On Empty Stomachs we woke up
The Sun wasn't bright as it usual
Our zeal still paramount as usual .
We picked up our flags we had slept in
To protect ourselves from flies and mosquitoes of the night
It doesn't matter how cold the ground was
We conquered
Thugs came , still we conquered
The rain poured down still we conquered
We danced , we played , we prayed , days upon days
We met new people , We Smiled , we fell in love. we took pictures ,we kept memories ,we remembered
We have never felt such Nationalism and belongliness like this in our hearts since our birth not until the Matching began
We had hope in our eyes mind and voice even in our hearts
We danced again , we laughed harder , we Smiled , we played and we prayed..................

We woke up again on this hard road
Now the pain is getting unbearable
Our backs getting stiffened from the flat floors
Our flags getting faded
Our Aged walking
Our emotions frustrated
But still Under the hot sun we matched
For my children I matched
For my Children's children I matched
For Every Single Nigerian we matched
For the love we collectively have for Nigeria ,the little spark of hope ,we matched
We Sang still, we danced , we played and we prayed ....

Evening was coming , Our president still hasn't said anything
Maybe he hasn't heard , maybe he was planning

He was....
We danced harder , laughed harder ,played and Prayed harder
The lights went out
Our hairs stood up ,we stoped and looked at each other , Trucks were speeding and screeching towards us .
Without voices just footsteps followed by rapid gunshots ,first we thought it was air shots but no people were dropping and been picked up both by Soilders and fellow matchers to aid them to safety .
But where is safe ? we are left in open field
We were left defenceless
Literally target practice

Children are here Women screamed
Holding and curling up around their loved ones

Hold your Nigerian flags! We tried to encourage ourselves , still the shots continued as if been automated by drones .

We have never seen a gun battle before sadly it will be our last
Woman, men and children ..... Nigerians ........Humans running sporadically , been chased like rats , been shot at like Sport .
We were enclosed , we were trapped , insticts kicked in people trampled on people ,children and the weak , some ran to their own deaths , others bullets missing their heads by inches , others hit on the side without even knowing ,
The intense smell of gun powder is unmistakable
Blood on the Nigerian Flag
Blood on the Military
Blood on the hands of the President
Blood on the very streets we once slept on
