there is no battle. how can there be when Windows is on 98 percent of computers. also the better os is the os that works best for u and ur needs

It depends on what you want. If you want am OS that can run most commonly used programs (photoshop, MS Office, etc) then Windows is about the only option.

If you just want to browse the web or you need a fast stable system with no virus issues the you're better off with Linux. There's a reason why 98% of web servers and most large internet companies (eg google) run on Linux. The security is unbeatable. Linux Mint is probably the best distro for beginners. There's also Ubuntu and Mandriva. You can download and try them without installing or changing anything on your computer.

Of course there's also OSX but its notoriously unsecure and Macs are usually too expensive anyway. You could probably get a more powerful PC for half the price of a Mac.

Better variants of the "commonly used" programs run on OSX but you just can't find them in Otigba(pirated) like their windows counterparts. But you can buy them online.

OSX has Unix in it's hood and considered the most advanced OS. I don't even run an antivirus on my Mac, and it doesn't crash as often as Windows.

I guess Macs are better priced now. You can get a good one for a thousand bucks. Most of these PCs are plastics anyway. And you can run Windows on a Mac too.

Back to the poster's ??. Linux is better, that's why critical systems opt for it. Windows will just get you into more trouble.
