Man's needs are insatiable. That's why they go the extra mile in modifying and perfecting their world into a much better place. However, in their quest to make life easier, certain ideas can not be carried out nor some problems with the system solved. There is just no means to do that within their manpower. Take, for instance, weather forecasters would need technology to be able to predict weather changes in a region over some time. So would car manufacturers when testing their new batches of cars; instead of test crashing them, a model of it is simulated with the aid of a computer program. This is where computer simulation comes in. I will give a brief explanation of what computer simulation is all about and how it solves human problems. Computer Simulation Computer simulation involves the use of a computer to replicate the physical responses of a structure by the behaviour of another structure designed after it. It shows how objects respond to conditions that are not easy and safe to apply in the real world. It also samples a real or proposed structure when it is difficult or impractical to carry out changes in the real structure and when it involves much money. Some other benefits of this program include: - it avoids dangers to life - the conditions can be altered for different outcomes Although computer simulation has been helpful to mankind, it also comes with its disadvantages. To simulate anything, thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure are needed. In the absence of this, it will be difficult to study how one thing affects the other. The Solution To Our Problems With this little knowledge on what computer simulation is, I will explain how it is applied in the real world to lessen or stop problems we encounter. 1. Computer simulation gives in-depth knowledge and understanding of a system. This will aid in the design of a new structure or object, or the modification of a pre-existing structure. 2. Problematic areas in how a system functions can be identified. When these issues become visible, they can be fixed to improve the efficiency of the system. 3. Outcomes of changes in structure or operations can be assessed. The features of a system and its activities can be modified for some reason and the results are evaluated to compare the efficiency of the system before and after the modification. 4. Actions needed for the smooth operation of systems or organisations are recognized. These measures will either improve the system or remove certain events that might surface. 5. Effects of a change in strategy are assessed before implementation. Computer simulation demonstrates what would likely occur when the operation of a system is altered. It is a big relief since the invention of computer simulation. Now that fantastic idea that is impossible to carry out becomes more practical and the answers to our unending questions become evident. It is a win-win. |
