A shawl collar combines both the lapel and collar in one piece. In other words, it is an extension of the lapel above the front neckline and beyond the shoulder. The basic difference between a Notched collar and a Shawl collar is: • The Notched collar has its collar portion as a separate piece which can be cut in a different grainline from the lapel.
