They Refuse Correction by Nobody: 9:07am On May 29, 2011
Friends,
Yes, it is very sad about the tornado going through Joplin last night causing destruction and death. The residents there are not necessarily worse sinners than those living elsewhere (Luke 13:1-5), but God does cause these things (Amos 3:6 & Isa. 45:7 & Lam. 3:38) in order to punish people for sin, (Isa. 26:14,16) to gain glory for Himself (v. 15), and that people would learn to fear the Lord. As verse 9 says, “When Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.” Yes, many do turn… turn from sin to God, acknowledging that He is awesome and holds in His hand the lives of all mankind, including their own.

However, even when given judgements, punishments, and obvious warnings, most still won’t turn. And God says again, this time of us, “This is the nation that has not obeyed the LORD its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.” (Jer. 7:28) “‘You have all rebelled against Me,’ declares the LORD. ‘In vain I punished your people; they did not respond to correction.’” (2:29,30) Those who do fear God, say, “O LORD, do not Your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain; You crushed them, but they refused correction. They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent.” (5:3) This is a sad lament, for often the righteous are indeed affected by the sins of others. We long for them to turn from sin to God –for their own sakes, as well as ours, and because we are filled with grief as we watch them scorn our holy God who is so wise and loving.

But, like the Israelites, our generation vexes God again and again. (Ps. 78:41) “Yet He is merciful… Time after time He restrains his anger and does not stir up His full wrath.” (See v. 38) “Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD.” (Isa. 26:10) Do we not have churches across our land, Bibles in every book store, numerous Christian radio stations? Have we not been given more freedom to worship Christ than most every other nation in the world? We have. Yet we “keep on with our sinful greed… and our willful ways.” (See Isa. 57:17)

God says, “Again and again I sent My servants the prophets, who said, ‘Do not do this detestable thing that I hate! But they did not listen or pay attention; they did not turn from their wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods.” (Jer. 44:4,5) Those who proclaim God’s Word keep pleading with the heathen, as well as with the adulterous church, concerning their idolatry toward money, lust, self-indulgence with the T.V. and internet, neglect of time spent on their knees…, yet as God says, “To this day [though they've had the chance all their lives] they have not humbled themselves or shown reverence, nor have they followed My law and the decrees I set before you and your fathers.” (v. 10) “Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am determined to bring disaster on you…” (v. 11)

“Therefore, My fierce anger was poured out; it raged against the towns… and made them the desolate ruins they are today.” (v. 6) What towns? Many. But also homes… families… lives… Can’t we learn from it?! As God asks in verse 8, “Why provoke Me to anger…? You will destroy yourselves…”

But what do most people answer? “We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD!” (v. 16) If some do listen and believe, if some do acknowledge God’s judgements, they still say, “It’s no use! I love foreign gods, and I must go after them.” (2:25) In other words, “Oh, well, I’m addicted.” Or, “I hear what you’re saying, but I love sex too much. I love the money and prestige I get from selling drugs. Look at my shoes. I couldn’t buy these and get respect if I wasn’t hustling.” Yes, while evangelizing, I do get these types of comments all the time.

“Now therefore say to the people…, ‘This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’ But they will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’” (18:11,12) They actually admit their wretchedness, but then just shrug –and go on in their depravity.

Therefore “Announce this… and proclaim it… Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear: Should you not fear Me?’ declares the LORD. ‘Should you not tremble in My presence?’” (5:20-22) “But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts… They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God.” (v. 24)

Thus “An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.” (Ps. 36:1,2) Indeed, strutting arrogantly down Folly’s road, he disregards pleas from loved ones as well as rebukes from the Lord.

“O LORD, Your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it.” (Isa. 26:11)

However, even when they do see God’s judgement come down, they refuse to take it to heart and turn from their rebellious ways.

Roger that, natural disasters are god's way of being totally awesome.
"God does cause these things (Amos 3:6 & Isa. 45:7 & Lam. 3:38) in order to punish people for sin, (Isa. 26:14,16) to gain glory for Himself (v. 15), and that people would learn to fear the Lord."

The people of Joplin should be pleased, god was just being his usual awesome self.  He decided to "gain glory for himself" by disrupting your lives with a tornado. He could easily have let the tornado happen without totally f_cking your city up, but he works in mysterious ways. No?

So God happily sent this tornado to kill, maim and destroy? What would the devil himself have done? How can you tell the difference? Remember that the devil tortured one man while killing his family (with God's permission of course) while God happily kills, tortures and maims thousands of others in his free will. So tell me, what would the devil himself have done?

With what I highlighted above in your post, you have managed to show that your God is arbitrary and therefore unjust, proud and a terrorist since his aim is simply to instill fear.

In your pride, because you fail to see the seriousness of sin and what it caused God to send his son to redeem mankind.

Repent or you will perish in your sins.

Did you think you were dealing with a baby in a manger or a weak God who will keep overlooking your sin ?  God is LOVE but he is so full of LOVE that he hates what we are doing to ourselves and his creation, lusting, greed, selfishness, killing, murdering ( like in the North ), abortions etc etc.

Man you aint seen nothing yet, when God's full wrath comes I hope you will be found in Jesus Christ with his blood atoning for your sins otherwise your case will be a most dreadful one.

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

John 9
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” 3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.

I think we need to stop trying to chase people to God through fear. Uncompassionate statements like this should be wisely thought through

@ musKeeto

No Sir, thats a lie of the devil.

How come Jesus preached the gospel and said repent or perish ? The words I quoted above are the words from the bible, are you going to argue with that or twist the words to your own destruction ?

Speaking the truth in LOVE is what we have been commanded to do, not sugar coat messages to lure people with a false gospel.

The gospel is that :

1. We have all sinned
2. That even when we were ungodly Jesus died for the atonement of our sins
3. If we repent of our sins and accept this sacrifice we are saved
4. We are baptised with water and by the Spirit
5. We live holy lives
6. If we fall we confess, repent and move on

My brother, the bible says it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living GOD, for he is a consuming fire.

But we all agree he is LOVE, problem is this LOVE has been abused and turned into an excuse for sin.

"For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." - Jude 1:4

God bless you

@Frosbel

I would also advise caution - if not, how would you explain a natural disaster that only claimed the lives of children ?

Natural disasters are NOT caused by God to punish sin. God could easily punish the sinners individually with no 'collateral damage'.
Re: They Refuse Correction by Nobody: 2:19pm On May 29, 2011
^^^

Sure my brother, it is possible that God did not cause this to happen but perharps his hedge of protection was lifted, one cannot be 100% certain I agree.

But sometimes God does allow punishment, please read the bible verse below :

"I make light and create darkness. I make blessings and create disasters. I, the LORD, do all these things." - Isaiah 45:7

This is not to miscontrue the natutre of God , because we know God is indeed merciful , loving , kind and forgiving.

In fact because God delays his punishment on sin this people are hell bent on sin and perpetual rebellion just like you have in churches these days. Sin and God do not go together.

"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." - Ecclesiastes 8:11

So you see wicked people, the Hitlers of this world, rapists, fraudsters,  again and again dare God with their continuous love for sin and greed, yet God defers judgement and like the case of Paul lovingly saves some of these types of people.

I would like to summarise by saying that God's wrath is geared towards those who know the truth the most and yet refuse to abide and live by this truth.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

" But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a]  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.  Therefore do not be partners with them. - Ephesians 5:3 - 7

" And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication [NKJV: sexual immorality], nor of their thefts." - Revelation 9:20 - 21

Again I am not 100% if God caused this disaster, but the writer must have been to led to make this comment based on some observations.

For now please feel free to correct me on any article or misrepresentation I might make on the bible , one thing I confess is I am not perfect and have an open mind that can be changed ONLY with scriptures to back up a contrary perception.

Thanks,

Frosbel is a member of the Westboro baptist church. . . . . .All this type of rhetoric is to imply or appeal to an emotional qualification in trying to justify violence or action against those who do not believe what you believe.  Effectively, its the same type of rhetoric that has accompanied every violent act in the history of Christianity. . . . .

It is also the admission that you effectively lack any reasonable justification for a belief, you're first post is the opening shots of propaganda and cult like behavior that is nothing but intimidation. You want others to believe your stupid myths and you think selling fear to them is the way to go about it, eh? Sometimes I really pity people like you. . . .You are a moral failure. . . .  Why do you expect it to convince anyone intellectually? Fear is your religion and your God. . . . .

With all due respect sir, if the word of God frightens you, it will be a good sign that you are in dread because of your sins. This is healthy and could possibly lead you to have a different perception of God than that which is depicted in many churches today, which is in essence a God who laughs at sin and cannot be bothered about the wickedness of man.

I am not in a cult, thanks, in fact I am weary of church denominations and cults that have put men like you and I in bondage for too long.

Kindly read my latest update prior to your post and you will understand what I mean.

However if you think you can keep living in sin thereby mocking God and his sacrifices I can assure you that there is a day of reckoning when we shall all be judged based on what we have done in our bodies.

God wills no man death or evil, however our sins can expose us to direct onslaughts of Satan.

]2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.er that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel ( church ) ?"

Ezekiel 18:23 " Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?"

Ezekiel 18:30 "Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall
.

So maybe I should have said God allows judgement on habitually sinful people who have no desire whatsoever to repent of their wickedness.

Repent now while there is hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isaiah 1:20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Isaiah 65:12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity
reading from the book of Romans chapter 1 :
Whose sin was he punishing? That of the little children? Or is it that of their long dead ancestors? Or is it the sin committed by the Haitians? Pray tell me which sin was he punishing with this tornado?

frosbel:

All this just goes to your God's arbitrariness. If he goes on a punishing spree by killing ten children based on the homosexual acts of a pair of people in Joplin but not in a neighbouring state, then he is arbitrary.

There is this story that shows just how terrible and arbitrary this God of yours is read it below.

Christian Post: Joplin, Mo., officials have updated the death toll from Sunday's tornado to 142.

Among those newly found dead was Will Norton, 18, who had just graduated high school the day the tornado hit.

He was found in a pond on Friday, his family announced Saturday in an emotional press conference. He had been sucked out of his car despite his father's efforts to hold onto him. Norton was reciting verses of the Bible when he was sucked out, as reported by PoliticMo.

Meanwhile, the search continues for 100 persons who are still missing.

A week has passed since Joplin was hit by the deadliest tornado in the U.S. since 1947. Some have described the scenes as if the city of 50,000 people was bombed or as if someone had placed the city in a blender and hit pulverize, as one worker at Samaritan's Purse put it.

Another relief worker, Jody Herrington-Gettys, director of U.S. Disaster Relief for Operation Blessing, recently observed, "As we drove into Joplin, the scenes of destruction were unimaginable."

The latest death toll was announced Saturday by Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr.

With that updated number, 2011 has become the deadliest year for tornadoes since 1953, when 519 people died. So far this year, 523 people have been killed.

In total, there have been 1,333 preliminary tornado reports in the U.S. so far this year, according to The Washington Post. That's nearly 60 more than the average in a single year.

Faith-based relief groups that have been busy aiding in recovery efforts in Alabama, which was struck by tornado storms last month, have redirected part of their efforts to help victims in Joplin.

Operation Blessing is one of them.

Despite the unimaginable devastation, Herrington-Gettys described the situation as nothing less than hopeful.

"[O]nce we saw how the faith-based community here has rallied together to help those in need, our spirits soared. Hundreds of volunteers are providing comfort to local residents who have lost everything, not only through relief supplies, but also through sharing love and hope."

President Barack Obama will be heading to the ravaged city on Sunday, a day after returning to the U.S. from a six-day European tour.

Please *not the part of the story I emphasized. Would the your God truly have done this?

Isaiah 65:12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."
What exactly is this you are describing?. . . .Your God threatens the people with terrible punishment if they do not want to be its friend, eh . . . . . That sounds like Hitler territory. . . . ."Be my friend, or I will make you sorry." . . . . . .How exactly do you love and fear something at the same time huh huh. . . . . .Since your heart is filled with hate and fear, when you read the bible the concept of God you take out of it is the one for fear, anger, wrath and violence. . . . This only speaks of you as a moral failure. . . . .

To be fair and permit me to say this, you are arguing with the word of God and not me.

One day for sure, you will have to give an account for your life on earth.

Your life is like a vapour that could disappear in the fraction of a second, or like a flower that can die in seconds when scorched by the hot sun.

God threatens no one, he warns the wicked of the wickedness of their sins and how it destroys the glory of his creation.

You will not come to Jesus, so instead if you do not repent you will die in your sins.

Actually, the argument is with you because you're claiming to have the word of God. Unless God shows up and says that he told you his word, then all we have is you claiming that it is his word.
