GOV EMMANUEL DONATES ANOTHER SET OF VEHICLES, GADGETS TO POLICE

Governor Udom Emmanuel has donated another batch of security patrol vehicles to the Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Police.

The governor also presented several units of security alarm and communication equipments to the state Police command.

Making the presentations Friday at Government House, Uyo, Governor Emmanuel said the move was in line with his administration's commitment to enhancing security in the state and reduce crime during the Yuletide.

He affirmed that the state government will continue to release the vehicles in batches until it meets the targeted one hundred vehicles.

He assured the state police command of the continuous support of his administration to enhance its capacity to mitigate crime in the state and ensure security of lives and property of well-meaning citizens.

The governor urged the police to exercise greater resolve and redouble efforts in combatting crime, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.

He cautioned those with criminal minds to desist from criminal activities and allow everyone to dwell in peace and safety.

State Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, who received the donations on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, thanked the state governor for his efforts to enhance security in the state, and also for his continuous support to the agency.

He assured of continued dedication by his men towards ensuring a safe state where citizens can sleep with their two eyes closed.

PRIVATE SECTOR PARTICIPATION, THE HALLMARK OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - DR ESSIEN

The Board Chairman of Ibom Airport Development Company Authority Limited (IADCAL), Dr. Iniobong Ene Essien has hinted that private sector participation in the development process of any state like Akwa Ibom, is key to sustainable advancement.
The Board Chairman made this known during the maiden inspection visit to International Terminal Building site at the Victor Attah International Airport (VAIA) on Thursday.
" for sustainable development in any state like ours to thrive, private sector participation must be paramount and that is the foundation the Governor is successfully laying", he stated.
The IADCAL Boss who commended the infrastructural development strides of Gov. Emmanuel, said the reality of the international terminal is a testament of his visionary leadership and his zeal to positively turnaround the economic fortunes of the state for a Prosperous future.
Dr. Essien disclosed that some renowned airlines like the Emirate Airline is ready to commence business at the airport when the construction work is completed and the Terminal operational, adding that the anticipated value chain would be huge and beneficial to the state and it's citizens.
Essien used the medium to harp on the need for the Management team of the Project to develop a framework on the training of Nigerians in order to bridge the gap of managing the facility on completion, thereby reducing foreign content engagement in the project.He admonished that the engagement of automatic cleaning services and a holistic waste management system should be adopted.
Furthermore, Dr Iniobong Essien intimated that he was satisfied with the rate of progress recorded in the construction work, maintaining that he was optimistic that the project would be completed and operational in the life of this administration.He further added that he was proud to be a part of Emmanuel's led administration success story in aviation development.
..."I feel elated and privileged to be part of team Akwa Ibom State, that is achieving this much in aviation development" he enthused.
Responding, the Project Consultant, Engr. Francis Uwah disclosed that 95% of workers at site are Nigerians and that the automated cleaning system and a motorized package treatment for waste management has been adopted for the facility.
In the delegation were Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, IADCL Chairman; Dr Ini Ene Essien, other Board members of IADCL, Managing Director VAIA, Mr. Uwem Ekanem, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Special Duties; Engr. The yuletide period has come with an amazing Christmas gift as Cally Express is set to begin operations from the 18th of
December 2021.

According to the management of the ferry service, Cally express will officially be open to the public come Saturday, 18th of December and will be running boat services from its Calabar jetty located at
Obutong beach by Calcemco factory to Uyo with final stopping point at Nwaniba timber beach. Its service time is from 8am to 6pm daily.

The management also assures passengers of their safety as necessary measures have been taken to provide a conducive atmosphere for all travelling passengers.
