The difference between cookies and cache is important because it determines how to clear them from your computer. What is a cache Cache is generated by a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. It stores a temporary copy of webpages that you visit so that those pages load more quickly the next time you come across them. For instance, when you visit a site with images, they are temporarily stored in your cache and displayed on the site. Effect of cache on your device After you visit a web page, it goes into the cache and the browser doesn’t have to download them again. When you visit that same page again, the page is already downloaded and stored in the cache. It takes a little time for the browser to discover the cached pages if it hasn’t been updated recently, or if the browser is running low on memory. To get around this, the browser can use third party tools to refresh the cache. When you perform a web search, it is a common practice for the search engine to update its own cache with the latest search terms and information. If you’re on a low memory system, an application that uses a lot of RAM (random access memory) may become blocked because the cache is not being downloaded when the application is busy, or because of high processor usage. The application may become inoperative, which is bad for the user. Continue...... What cookies are Cookies are small data files that are downloaded to your computer while you’re browsing a website. The rules set by the web site owner are not standardized, and they may be changed at any time, so users should check each web site’s privacy policy. Cookies can store information on the computer that they were downloaded on, and on other computers that are linked to it. This enables the web site to recognize past visitors and make further suggestions based on their preferences. Cookies are typically used to track your movements from page to page in order to continually streamline your experience at the site. They used to store certain preferences, login information and other items, often for user-interface customization purposes.
