I didn’t know! Will cost you when it comes to developing a property in Lagos. Lagos is not one of those states you just buy a land and begin to build. If you try it in Lagos without knowing these few things, it can lead to premium tears.

Now let us start with the land itself you want to build on, you need to be absolutely sure it is free from any present or future problem.

Present problem is when you buy a land already sold to someone else or the seller was a fake and didn’t have the authority to sell that land. Future problem is when you buy government land and you didn’t know. Both cases would make you cry but the tears taste different.

So before you start developing any land;
1. Ensure you bought from the right and genuine source, not some distance uncle in a family that is not entitled to the land.
2. For the sake of your sanity, make sure you are not buying a government land, one day, they would remember that land.
3. Ensure you settle the omonile covering that area or you would have to put armed soldier on your site. Give to Caesar what belong to him.
4. Get all your building plan approved before commencing construction and ensure you do not build contrary to what was approved.
5. When you have your approved building plan, ensure you visit the LASBCA district office in that area before commencing construction.
6. When you have sorted all 5 government agency in charge of construction, then you must ensure you build right and use professionals on your site.

Do all these and be rest assured that you have complied with almost all government laws regarding construction.
