Remember the manner of persons you were before you got to accept Jesus:
Many of you didn't fall into the category of a whiz, many of you didn't fall into the category of the mighty, not many were of noble steed.
1 Corinthians 1 : 26

But God chose you just for this very purpose ;
To humble the mighty, the noble, and the whiz of this world.

Why?
That through you, the proud in the world will get to respect God.
1 Corinthians 1 : 29 - 31

Now if you were weak and nothing before you met Jesus, do you think you will excel against the proud in the world and thrive, when you choose to not walk with Jesus, and not live from His words?
John 15 : 5

Jesus saying to his disciples, that without Him they could do nothing, implies that they were nothing in the world before they met Him, and their flourishing depends on living from Him.
To neglect that, is to remain as the nothing they were before encountering Him.
The reason many believers are on the bottom table.
They profess Jesus by mouth, but don't live by Jesus - the bread from Heaven.
And the other's who seem to thrive, flow with the tide of darkness by agreement.

Make the decision today, to find God's specific purpose for you, and with patience fulfil it.
If you think you are here to just birth, get a job, and die, you have lost your purpose.
