It's easier said than done

Simple. Shake the branch and the tree will fall (the tree is almost cut-off from the base) towards the small piece of land to the right and the snake will go down inside the water.

There is no escape, only has to choose a way than mere hang from the tree.

Your adrenaline to fight the snake should be high enough to make sure fight it or kill it and remain in the tree until helps arrive. Remember the survival instinct of a man is always at the top when faced with such situations. Even the lion and the crocodiles will give up if you refuse to come down on time.
