Lionel Messi, unarguably football’s greatest playing individual of this generation has been under intense attack from the football hemisphere as to whether or not he needs to win the world cup to be considered the greatest of all time.

He has an incredible vision and his ability to pick passes in very tiny and cute spaces is staggering. He is a football mastermind, an upgrade on the legendary Diego Armando Maradona. He is quick, fast, direct, and intelligent with his runs, and has a great awareness and vision when off the ball. Messi is a football sage.


But does football ability equate to football greatness? He is the only player in this era to be mentioned in the same bracket with Pele and Maradona(who won the world cup in 1986 at mexico). If he wins the world cup, he would be considered as the greatest footballer ever.

Messi does not need to win the world cup to prove greatness to anyone. All he has done with and for football will forever be available for many to see for centuries. The world cup is the most coveted trophy for his profession and thus he will always be pressured to win it. Even if he wins it, many will still not call him their greatest football. Envy and hatred is deep in football and that's why it makes it interesting with these thrills.

If you think Ronaldo's tears was for failing to win the world cup for portugal, just imagine if he would have cried had Messi exited the world cup before him...

Even I am surprised he put this up. I think there are many undercover Messi fans who know Messi is superior but they famz Ronaldo because of likes and social media leverage. Mourinho is right to say Messi is like porn who everybody likes in the cover of their homes at night but deny in public.
