Why Do Our Society Only Have Pity For Widows Only But Not Widowers? by sulakishop(op): 4:52am On Dec 25, 2022
I just woke up to read about Tonto Dikeh showing love to widows/single mums on Christmas and I thought to myself why widowers/single dad's are hardly mentioned/identified for assistance.

I believe widowers/single dads even suffer the most taking care of the children and still hustling alongside as well.

I really wish widowers/single dads too could be shown love proportionately (just an opinion), because I believe that both suffer natural events of the same gravity without reserving the soft spot only for women abeg.

Single parents are the same!

I wish this will grace the front page Mr Oluwaseun Osewa and the Moderators.

Merry Christmas and happy new year in advance to everyone!

I agree with you.

Because the Widow lost a breadwinner, and the widower, a companion or help and unlike the breadwinner, they can be easily replaced.

A penis gender should also stand up and help the widowers/single dads.

You make it sound like the wife does not "still hustle alongside as well", like she doesn't feed her children.

When baba Diokpara's wife died and left Kunle, Abom and Chinyere behind, we the neighbours supported him. Unfortunately, his ogogoro drinking and pool playing that his dead wife had been complaining about finally killed him too and we the neighbours supported her children.

Ma gave them a room in her house, and my siblings and I paid for Diokpara to go study marine engineering in Ghana. He now works on ships and travels the world. Kunle is an artist, Abom is a model, and Chinyere is a well paid qualified teacher.

P.s. Names are changed.

Because our society is patriarchal and men have more opportunity to succeed in Nigeria than women.

The are our sisters, lovers, aunts and mothers, if you believe in the Bibe, you may refer to them as weaker vesses.

Nothing wrong in showing defernce to widows plus, there are more widows than widowers since men die before their wives.

I thought of this yesterday and I agree with this topic, not the other agenda of society not judging female mast____ors.

It is because in many cases, the man is the sole or major bread winner and it is assumed the primary issue the family he left behind would face is money. His birth family may deny his wife whatever property he left behind. Leaving them to start from scratch.

However for widowers, the primary issue is nurture. And the birth family of the late wife are almost always willing to take in their sister's children while he sends stipends. But if the man chooses to be with the kids, his own female figures also help. That is if he doesn't remarry in record time to fill in the gap.
