The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has claimed vindication regarding the Adeleke administration’s inability to fulfil its obligations to government workers.

The party sympathized with the state’s civil servants and claimed that the delay in salary payments and Adeleke’s refusal to pay promotion arrears had become a big issue. The APC’s Acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said that the party had foreseen the present predicament of the Adeleke administration, and that it was difficult for anyone to give what they don’t possess.

The Osun State Government responded, stating that Adeleke was ready to pay the arrears of promotions alongside March salaries, which was the reason for the delay in the payment of March salaries. The government assured workers that the salary would be ready by March 3, 2023.

In response to the APC’s claims, the Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Chairman, Akindele Adekunle, warned that no amount of cheap rhetoric would wash away the records of the erstwhile ruling party in terms of the welfare of workers in the state... READ MORE

*APC in Severe Pain Over Labour's Support for Adeleke*

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sympathized with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over its pronounced agony on the no-love lost between Governor Ademola Ademola's government and workers, warning that no amount of cheap rhetorics will wash away the ignoble records of the erstwhile ruling party's in term of the welfare of workers in the state.

The PDP in a statement signed by its Caretaker Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle on Thursday, said the APC failed woefully in the latest attempt to pose as a friend of the workers, pointing out that the issue of the promotion arrears was one of the mess created by the party that Governor Adeleke is working to clear.

Dr. Akindele maintained the commitment of Governor Adeleke to pay the promotion arrears to workers as promised, explaining that the delay has nothing to do with the administration as revealed by labour leaders in a viral communication to workers.

"Is it not funny, or perhaps, absurd that the APC is now posing as an advocate for workers? This was the same party that made workers go through hell in the years it was in the helms of affairs in the state out of deliberate wickedness," the PDP chairman noted.

"The mistake the APC made was to think workers in the state have short memory and will fall for its cheap antics going by their terrible experience while it was in charge. If the APC was this concerned about workers, the question is, why exactly did the welfare of workers suffer so badly under its watch?

"Since coming on board, Governor Adeleke has shown serious commitment to the welfare of workers in Osun State and even pensioners. This is evident in the payment of the 30 months' half salaries and pension owed by the APC administration. Even the promotion arrears in focus was one of the numerous liabilities inherited by Governor Adeleke from Oyetola, and as a true friend of workers, is prepared to clear it.

"Of a truth, the Governor Adeleke administration intends to pay the arrears along with March salary but couldn't happen due to errors computation and reconciliation in salary records as attested to by Labour leaders in a message shared with their colleagues yesterday.

"The APC however seemed pained that workers showed understanding, hence, the reason for the frustration that its release. What the APC missed, or failed to understand is that Osun workers are smart and can tell that Governor Adeleke is sincere about their welfare unlike the deceit and fake concerns that the APC administrations' represent."

Dr. Akindele asked the APC to wake up to the reality of endless wailing as the bond between Governor Adeleke and civil servants in the state remains unbreakable, adding that the PDP-led government will not only ensure total cleansing of the mess created by the APC but take more steps to improve the welfare of workers in the state.

Signed:
Dr. Akindele Adekunle,
Caretaker Chairman, Osun PDP

*DELAY IN EFFECTING WORKERS' PROMOTION AND ARREARS IN MARCH, 2023*

The caretaker committee of Osun State NLC ably led by her chairperson comrade Modupeola were earlier this morning at the office of the Head of Service to complain about the failure of government to effect salary promotions and the arrears therefrom in the month of March, 2023.

The HoS flanked by the Director of Labour informed us that the failure was as a result of late submission of salary requests and its arrears by some agencies and parastatals of government to the appropriate quarters.

Some agencies salary reports were sent back for about 3 times before the salary officer could submit appropriate proposal.

As a result of this, government initially thought that the proper reconciliation could be adequately perfected on time having in mind that Easter holiday comes up this Friday. But when they now discovered that the required reconciliation and perfection cannot be completed even this week, hence, the payment of old salary is inevitable for workers to have something to fall upon during the festive season.

Government appeal to Osun workers to bear with them while making sure that every necessary thing would have been properly perfected and promotion and it's arrears paid in April salary.

We are now appealing to our salary officers across the state and their supervisors to please make sure that they fully cooperate with government in the submission of our monthly salary returns as and when due. They should always consult widely and on time too on issues not so clear to them while effecting workers promotions and the arrears therefrom

The caretaker chairperson, comrade Modupeola will be life on radio or tv latter today or tomorrow to shed more lights on this and some related issues. When the media channel and time is communicated you will be duly notified accordingly.

Thank you.

So Osun APC is not ashamed to criticize the sitting governor for their failure to pay retirees up-to-date in their 8 years reign in the state.

Very shameful.
