(4) From (3), make D subject of the formula. D=24-C. Substitute in (4) 24-C-C=10 -2C=-14 C=7 Substitute C=7 in (1) 7+R=10 R=3 Substitute R=3 in (2) D+3=20 D=17 Therefore, Cat is 7kg, rat is 3kg and the dog is 17kg.
