Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse.

Ubuntu is the fastest you can get. You can get the get the Desktop or Server edition from any1, its quite common and you can always get help from pple whenever yu ar stuck.

i have fedora but it s like abit difficult and more complex dan debian

fedora changes frequently and besides ubuntu is a sub of debian and where in the country do u want me to get a etwork fast benough yo download over 4gigabytes??

Actually, Ubuntu's ok (Debian-based) but I'm a Fedora guy (from the days of RHL). But if you dont like scripts, you may not tolerate it well. The best (good & better) stuff can almost always be done at the console only. But this thread is all about Ubuntu. Here goes nothing:

If for no other reason other than you're new to the Linux experience and should find it easier migrating to Windows-like interface initially, I recommend Ubuntu (the CDs should be sufficient). I know guys who've got every release till date (I do). Ask a friend or two. More people have Ubuntu discs/thumbdrives than you'd care to know. But you've gotta ask from likely sources. Or download an x64 or i686 disc, depending on your device architecture (about 700MB each). Good luck
