I am designing the desktop version of my software with VB 2010. And the database is being done with Microsoft SQL SERVER 2008. The problem is after the desktop version is complete, I will start designing the web version of the app. with php. When that is done, I want to use the database that I created for the desktop version with the web version. Now I have started designing the database on MS SQL. Is it possible for me to use the database for both worlds? Please I need a How answer. |

No body will give you final answer without testing it before! I will post mine answer after testing, maybe you would have tested it before I do? @ Nairaplus, test this before you go far, there is no magic about it! |

Export your MS SQL DB to MySQL. If you want both of them mirrored, write a batch code on your PC to export your MS SQL to MySQL at specified intervals . . . if its mission critical, you'd need more than specified intervals to keep both DBs mirrored. If you want it mirrored in reverse (from MySQL to MS SQL) you'd need to write a cron at specified intervals. All this is just my thoughts, never tested. Hope it helps. |
