illicit:Correct. These are Calabar-made single-shot pistols that fire shotgun shells. I once had a Calabar man fire one of those guns right beside me, and I was amazed to note that the ground actually shook with the explosion. The report of my shotgun firing the same cartridges is nowhere near as loud as those locally fabricated pistols. Even though those little guns look primitive, their effect on the human body would be devastating at short range, with ripped flesh and shattered bones to be expected if a buckshot cartridge is used. 5 Likes 1 Share |
