Iran calls proxy groups to Tehran to decide retaliation - sources
Iran has called its proxy groups to Tehran for a meeting to discuss how best to retaliate against Israel for the death of Ismail Haniyeh, sources have told the Reuters news agency.

Iran has backed, funded and trained several proxy groups across the Middle East region to differing degrees, including Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon and a number of other factions based in Syria and Iraq.

Earlier, we reported on a New York Times article that said the Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered a direct strike on Israel, but that the manner and scale of retaliation had not yet been decided.

Options for this latest retaliation include a coordinated attack of drones and missiles on military targets in the vicinity of Tel Aviv and Haifa - but this would avoid civilians - the sources told the NYT, while another option is an attack from Iran and other fronts where it has proxy groups, including Yemen, Syria and Iraq- Sky News
