usaid ihp donates training materials and equipment to aefunai department of nursing science worth about n7 million - Even as AE-FUNAI Professor donates books to varsity The United State Agency for International Development (USAID) Integrate Health Programme that engages in international development and humanitarian assistance across the world has donated some critical learning materials and equipment to the Department of Nursing Science, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, to enhance its capacity to train and turn-out nurses with global impact. The Agency through its Ebonyi State Director, Dr. Oladipo Akinmade while making the donations said that the USAID Integrated Health Program ( lHP) is a 5-year programme with a goal to contributing to the reductions in child and maternal morbidity while also strengthening the capacity of health systems (public and private) to respond to health issues . He also said that USAID (IHP) has three main objectives namely; strengthening health systems, supporting primary health care services and increasing quality of health care services. The State Director while handing over the equipment, in furtherance to the goal of USAID to provide humanitarian assistance and help achieve progress beyond measures said that the role, the University plays in the training of health care workers particularly Nurses necessitated the gesture to support them in their quest to improving service delivery and development of skilled human resources in the State The items donated include National guideline for basic new born, nutrition learning package - participant’s version, digital thermometer, forceps and scalpel, weighing machines. Other materials were, neontalie, drip stand, life wrap Nasa, Jadelle insertion and removal, e.t.c and many other educational books and materials that facilitate learning. Meanwhile an academic staff of the University in the Department of Accountancy, Prof. Nweze has donated some accounting textbooks to the Department to further boost the stock and currency of postgraduate books available for staff and students for teaching and learning. He pledged to keep contributing towards the upliftment of the academic standards of the department, especially in the running of postgraduate programmes. He further thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom for approving his sabbatical leave. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elom who was represented by his deputy in charge of Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha while receiving the books, learning materials and equipment thanked the donors, promising that the University management will put the items to good use by making it available for students at the university’s library and laboratories. Copies of the textbooks donated by Prof Nwaeze, which were also written by him include ten (10) copies of the 8th edition of Management Accounting (Performance Management); 2 copies of Advanced Audit and Assurance; 2 copies of Advanced Taxation; 2 copies of Corporate Reporting; 4 copies of Corporate Strategic Management and Ethics; 2copies of Financial Reporting; 3copies of Performance Management; 2copies of Public Sector Accounting and 2copies of Strategic Financial Management.
