In his inaugural public statement broadcast on Wednesday, Hezbollah's newly appointed leader Naim Kassem declared that the group will persist in its conflict with Israel unless a cease-fire that meets their terms is proposed.

"If the Israelis decide to stop the aggression, we say that we accept, but according to the conditions that we see as suitable," Kassem articulated from a secret spot in a pre-recorded TV appearance. "We will not beg for a cease fire as we will continue (fighting)... no matter how long it takes."
