I was on leave, they brought in two devs .
A critical optimization task was given to them. They both tried, failed and reported it can’t be done.

I resumed and learned about the task . CTO assigned task to me. Immediately, one of the guys reminded CTO that there is no solution and he spent days on it. And that the ORM doesn’t support such optimization.

CTO reluctantly still assigned to me.
I solved it in 30 minutes.
I created a PR then 12 subs tasks and assigned it to the two of them to apply the solution across board.

Essentially , they got to work on the fix , even improved / extended my fix for specific scenario and they didn’t get to feel I used them to collect stars.


When board is looking at who is optimizing the system from the tasks board , they’ll see their names in 12/13 of the tickets
