Can I Start Farming With 2 Plots Of Land? by latiephwald(op): 12:51pm On Jan 05, 2025
Also what can I plant that will yield better profit at the end of the season.
I am leasing the so called land for 100k annually, is it advisable to go for it?

Advantages
Water is available and close to my residence.

Guru farmers in the house, please your advice is needed.

Yes you can... But, I feel 100k annually is on the high side for 2 plots

30-40k is fine. 100k is extortion for such land size

No.

100k is actually way too much. The landlord is a greedy person. Although, the quick money crop would be vegetables. Let's say fluted pumpkin (ugu farming).
That means you will have to make your 100k first before even talking about profit. Starting the farming will add more expenses. Please, re-negotiate the leasing fee to like 60k maximum for both plots. That's 30k each. Thanks

Since you said it's close to your home then you can go for it. Concentrate on crops that yield every 5-7 days like pepper, okro etc.
100k (50k per plot) sounds on the high side but if your area is built up then I believe it's okay; it's residential land not farming . That means if you don't want it the owner can offer it to mechanics, block makers etc that usually make use of such land.
Considering the proximity to your home and probably your intended market I think the price is fair but it depends on where it is though.
Also, don't forget security.

100k is too much for two plots of land on lease. Maybe because the land is not in a remote area. Dude, you should plant crops that will fetch you good money. Plant 6 months cassava on the two plots. Turn the cassava after harvest to garri or fufu by yourself. Sell some of the stems to other Farmers. Plant the remaining stems again for the 2nd six months. Harvest and turn to garri and fufu or dry the cassava and mix guinea corn with it to make swallow. Then sell the swallow by yourself. No Middleman. Cheers.
