I missed the account number by one digit and it’s not a phone number but the account number OPay generates. Is it possible to get the recipient’s phone number or I should kiss that money goodbye?

Yes, that’s where the mistake was made. It was done in a hurry and quite late in the night. Might just have to give up on that one because the process they say I have to go through doesn’t seem like it’d be worth the trouble

That money don go bro. But nawa for you oo. Opay implemented a feature that ensures you don't send money to the wrong account. They ask you to confirm when you input the account number, and they also ask again after you input your pin. In fact, after you input your pin there is a 10 sec delay to ensure you confirm everything because you're sending to an account for the 1st time.

Oh okay. At this point I don't think there's any easy way to recover your money. As you said, the stress you'll go through might not be worth the amount. Hard luck.

Bruh probably sent the money to an Hoeloesho who refused to show up.

Get your bank to report the transaction as an error to opay. The account will be frozen, then opay will require the person to defend that transaction with evidence that it was not an error. The account will remain frozen till the person agrees that he should be debited and your money sent back to you.

But you know the number you sent it to right?. Why can't you call the person or better still search his name using opay app to get more info about him or am I missing something? Again if the account is not active or wrong and non existence, definitely you will get a reversal very soon..

Once sent 2k to a number like that.. had to just forget it..

Since this one is a large sum.. try contacting the customer service on the app, explain the situation. Beg them to help you initiate contact with the receiver.. as shown in the Transaction History.

Just pray the wrong receiver is a good person (likely 2% chance).. and also pray he hasn't spent out of the money (likely 0.1% chance)
