Who Can Help Decode This Scam? by cnnamoko(op): 10:01am On Jan 13, 2025
Goodday Fam. For the past 3 months I have been getting these similar calls and I strongly believe its some scam or something but I cannot get my head around it.

THE FORMAT
Someone will call you, usually a 'Pastor'. He will say he got your number online via your website or google business profile and ask for your assurance in delivering a good job, mostly IT jobs. He will tell you how he or the wife got a big school that needs a website or a jamb center for you to network computers for CBT etc.

He will now tell you he is not in town at the moment but will be around in a few days. You are happy, JOY is coming smiley

THE TWIST/THE CONFUSING PART
After concluding on what seems to be a promising job, he will now go personal like:

I have a building, the contractor is not honest, or the engineer is from cotonou and has travelled leaving me stranded. Do you know any good engineer or architect you can recommend?

At first I felt it was an honest client so I sent my civil engineer's friend number to him. He called the guy telling him to send quotes or something. My guy and I never heard from him again.

But after that, 2 other 'Pastors' have called with this same format which I have ignored.

This morning another called making it very clear that this must be a new scam format in town.

But my confusion is- what is the idea behind this scam because, I know my naija peeps are very smart and can be funny.

Anyone with similar experiemce or umderstands the format should please share so others can learn and avoid falling victims.
