So that you know, Bread now consumes up to 15% of the average family's monthly food budget. Let's not even talk about yam; that one is now a luxury food item, just like coleslaw.

Reno would soon come to tell us that half-sliced bread has been sold in the Nigerian market since bread and butter were discovered by Mary Slessor.

The same hands that made the bread also packaged it that way bcs most stored now bake their own bread. so what are you talking about? I bet you have never got the opportunity to see where bread is been made in the oven, I don’t know if you will stop eaten bread for that
Lool!
Well, you guessed wrong. I used to own and run a bakery. Big one sef, if not for relocation. Those of you talking about the same hands touching the bread, you can tie bread and barely touch it with your hands. I used to encourage minimal contact with the finished loaves to my workers. You cannot be romancing bread that people will eat, that was my slogan. I repeat, I will likely not buy this bread. It looks somehow.

So, why judge the bread when you don’t know the process? The same way you encouraged minimal contact could be apply here also even with glove when u are still talking of contact. Since u mentioned that you use to own or run a bakery, you did not tell us what use to happen when mixing is going on

It was you that inferred wrongly. I didn't say they manhandled it, I said it looks like.... big difference. You folks just like arguments. Who wraps half sliced bread? I was a master Baker, if I say its not done, then it's not done. Abi have you run bakery before? It's very awkward. Unless it's agege bread which the women share into 2, that's different. This is just weird.

Grooving what? 80% of bakeries that used to operate before T.pain went out of business after prices of materials increased over 400%. Stop supporting evil and learn to speak truth sometimes.

Hello. Am the last person that will bring fairy tales or moonlight baby stories on nairaland. I always ask genuine questions and contribute genuine suggestions.

Three(3) bakery here in my town are always filled up with distributors(this includes the company's own employed distributor and the ones that operate privately on their own) to collect bread and distribute out to retailers. The bakeries compound are usually filled with old wagon cars(the ones with big booth) and keke napeps. While some women use those big basket which they put on their heads!

Yet, people are still eating bread EVERY SINGLE DAY.
This is not about defending Tinubu, but bread is the last thing Nigerians will stop eating, no matter the price.
So, say something else.

People really don't understand how bad things have gotten in Nigeria.

Even middle-class stores are now finding ways to cater to customers that APC is pushing deeper into poverty.

Who would have ever imagined that supermarkets would start selling half loaves of bread?

Ahaa, Tinubu, you really did this one oh...
Now the proverb make sense...half bread is better than nothing 🍞

You are just funny. You said it looks like and you did not say it? You said who wraps half sliced bread and you said you did not say it. Read your message yourself because at this point I can see that you don’t understand yourself.

Is like you asking me the question of who wraps slides bread in the past government. The poster said some stores and not all stores. And is like you don’t know some stores now bake the bread themselves and they chose to sell their bread the way they want and not you saying who wraps half slides bread. You are the one arguing here just to justify your message

A full loaf of sliced bread at N1,600 is quite affordable. The half loaves of bread of N800 looks innovative BUT should have been oven baked separately with the right size of baking pan before slicing it for packaging in the transparent polythene bag.

I know this place. Owned by the Indians.

E no surprise me. In India, a bread can be cut into 10 and displayed for potential customers

The idea looks innovative at first sight, BUT the kneaded bread dough size (for making 1 full sliced loaves of bread sold for N1600) should have been cut into two equal dough sizes then placed in the baking pan before baking in the oven to the ideal texture.

The bread slicing device can then slice the two oven-baked loaves of bread into the ideal N800 sliced bread packaged in transparent nylon packaging.

As the situation stands, miniaturization and/or sachetization are becoming the creative norm worldwide in order to ensure market penetration across some demographics.

I'm not a fan of this govt but to be honest we have same quantity here in most supermarkets here in Germany. It's called buy the quantity you can eat. It's got nothing to do with the economy.

Again, I am not responsible for what you inferred from my initial statement. Go and buy half sliced bread from the supermarket ok... I cannot buy it.
