a friend of mine was spending above 500k monthly for data... The entire compound is connected to the data, that is d wife and children only, plus d Smart TV for streaming, d voice automation control system. All d devices in d house... Dude was living d life.

I use the 1TB yearly plan. Been using it for more than 4years now. Am currently on 537GB since November 1st when I subscribed it should last me till November I guess.

The service companies are fleecing Nigerians through exaggerated cost of mobile data.

Let me give you just a hint...

All base stations are run using generators....these generators run almost 24 hours a day
Site may burn between 4 to 40Litres per hour of diesel...Diesel is approximately 1k

So it means a site will burn 4k to 40k every hour multiplied by 24hrs ....that's 96k to 960k.....per day

Multiply that by 40,000 sites ....and that is just for running of the base stations alone

Lets not even talk of other operational cost.

If PHCN was stable and Diesel cost was cheaper the cost of our data would have been lower......its just the cost of doing business in Nigeria

30k on Airtel smartbox unlimited plan which helps me watch YouTube, Netflix, dstv etc on my non-smart tv,
2-5k on my Airtel mifi which I can take with me wherever I go if need be, smartbox is strictly for home use.
20k on MTN data so I can share it to my family members and Incase my Airtel is down
About 2-5k on glo whenever I want to stream match on dstv stream on my phone as it actually gets the least buffering issue where I am.

The MTN plan is 2 months tho except it finishes before it expires.
