Experience Learning A Skill by Mannyq124(op): 9:58pm On May 25, 2025
Good day everybody. I created this topic because I noticed that most artisans always like to demean, insult and intimidate thier apprentices. I went to barb my hair today, and the new guy who was barbing me made a small mistake, the Oga almost slapped him that I had to intervene. I really felt sorry for the guy especially after he told me that he was a graduate, I believe him because his way of expression and matured look proved to be so. This is one of the many times I have seen artisans maltreating their workers, sometimes over some trival issues. I have even heard cases where these apprentices are used for extra labour outside what they signed up for; like washing Oga's car, talking his/her children from school, going to the market to get foodstuff for madam, cleaning Oga's House, etc.

So I'd like to ask the House, what is/was your own experience like when learning a skill or trade, was it a bitter or sweet experience? And how can we achieve a better learning process for these apprentices.
