Hello Nairalanders,
Please I need help in solving this problem. Before I proceed lemme hive you a background of the reason behind my curiosity of this problem and why I've been thinking about it for a about two weeks now.
I worked as a Janitor in a Lawhile firm in Lekki and my workspace was a large ground floor hall with about 6 Industrial ACs in side. At any given time about 4 of these ACs are always on and set at 16°C. I usually wondered about the combined temperature of the room if the four ACs were on and set at 16°C. attached to this post is a section of the hall with one or two of the industrial ACs. Assuming this ACs were 2 horsepower. What will be the combined temperature of the room when each AC is set to cool the room at 16°C?

I have added 3 images with a one of them being a corner side of the hall. It's really a big hall. Will need my mathematicians or my physics guys to help with this. I'm not that good at maths but I have a very rich imagination. Thus post is just one such moment of imagination. I initially thought that since each AC is preset to cool the room at 16°C, then the combined temperature will be a sum total of the 4 ACs but I got stuck because temperature is supposed to drop when the environment becomes cooler so it was the problem of trying to figure whether the temperature is in the negative(sub zero) or positive that fueled my curiosity. Will be very happy to have someone's input.

Air conditioners don't work that way—they regulate temperature using the thermostat. What actually happens is that the thermostat detects the temperature of the environment and stops cooling once the room reaches the set temperature.

So, to answer your question: adding more ACs will not reduce the temperature below the set point. It will only increase the speed at which the room is cooled and improve efficiency.

So does that mean the combined temperature is still constant irrespective of the number of ACs or their horsepower?

Yes but the effect will be stronger
