Please i want to know if there is advantages and disadvantages of windows update by switching it on to update automatically.

i use windows 7

please help if you have done the update and what disadvantages does it produce.

From personal experience-
as an advantage, i upgraded from windows starter to ultimate but lost wireless connectivity, dint have the driver but i got online n 'windows update' search my system for missing sturvs, recommended i download n install, i did n got ma wireless working.

As a disadvantage, u wuldnt want it downloading over 30 diffrent language packs e.g korean, slovenian, danish and other language packs of up to 50mb for each one when u have lets say 2Gig data plan. I doubt if u nid these language packs (cos i dont) and u would have ended up wasting data.

To be on a safe side, I set mine on 'check for updates but let me choose whether to download n instal them'.

Yes, it optimized the system performance. Always install the recommended/important updates
