The Association of Female Comrades, Ogun State Chapter, has taken a bold step in the fight against gender-based violence, femicide, domestic abuse, and ritual killings with a historic Community Awareness Walk held in Sagamu on Saturday, 20th September, 2025.

The walk, which drew an overwhelming turnout of women, men, and young people across the community, sent a clear message of solidarity and resistance against violence in all its forms. Participants, dressed in symbolic white, marched through major streets of Sagamu with placards, banners, and chants that called for justice, accountability, and protection of women and vulnerable groups.

Speaking during the awareness walk, Comrade Babalola Elizabeth Olaitan, Coordinator of the Association of Female Comrades, Ogun State Chapter, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to eradicating gender-based violence from Nigerian society.

“The Association of Female Comrades, Ogun State Chapter, stands firmly against gender-based violence, femicide, domestic abuse, and ritual killings. These are not just crimes against individuals; they are attacks on humanity, on families, and on the future of our nation. This walk represents our collective resolve to break the silence, demand accountability, and uphold the rights of women and girls to live in dignity and safety. Together, we will continue this fight until justice and peace prevail,” she declared.



The exercise was not only a symbolic demonstration but also a platform for advocacy and grassroots engagement. Informational materials were distributed, discussions were held in markets and communities, and residents pledged support for ongoing efforts to protect women and vulnerable persons.

The Association emphasised that the awareness walk marks the beginning of a sustained campaign that will involve advocacy, education, and strategic partnerships aimed at ending violence across Ogun State and beyond.

The Association of Female Comrades, Ogun State Chapter, calls on government agencies, traditional institutions, civil society organisations, and the general public to rise and work collectively to eliminate gender-based violence.
