There's already AI in existence that can literally read the internet and pull answers out in milliseconds.

That was the real plan. The real OGs get to keep their own consciousness, safely tucked in a nonbiological long lasting and more efficient robotic casing.. Other consciousness who manages to survive that Armageddon would now become the outlaws, those being hunted down, to either force into submission or ... you know the rest.

Biological body has too many mysterious and prone to faults and we're too lazy to discover it's wonders and better ways to improve and evolve it, so we go for other ways of evolution.... namely: abandonment. Discarding it all for something we think is better.
