Once elections are not free and fair, things begin to go downhill. It is rule of law that confers legitimacy on "elected" politicians.

While I cannot endorse military rule whatsoever, let me be clear that the best infrastructure we had in this country was built by the military....from 3MB to the refineries. These politicians haven't been able to achieve anything significant for the country. They are just there to suppress and oppress.
Mr Man,go and rest - because from all your stuff statements up- you are Indirectly supporting the Military 🪖.
Let me ask you:
- according to your Statements - which Accountability Did Any Soldiers made when he was in government?
Which Accounts Did Any Abacha,Babangida, ----Obasanjo made to you- when they were in govt and what apologies have they render to the NIGERIANS on any Expenses or Expenditures made in govt?
-If your Military are good WHEN THEY WERE IN GOVT IN THE 60s,70s and was it not Corruption Charges that Murtala Mohammed made- Against All the Military Governors then or what Nonsense Analysis Are you making - by Directly and Indirectly Supporting Coup?
SAY NO TO COUP AND STOP 🛑 BEING SO BITTER NUANCES.
Stop dishing out False Narrative to Nigerians!
•HOLD YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES( the Governors, the Legislatures- Senators, the Representative, the Executives) to Accounts for Humongous Money Collected from the Federation Accounts-and the States Annual Budgets and stop given Flimsy Excuses.
• So,if you can't hold them Accountable,is it the Army/ Coup leaders you will hold Accountable?

How can humans ever envisage of planning a coup against the demigod without him knowing before hand.

The problem with humans is that, they always fail to acknowledge the powers, reach dominance and political tentacles of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR)

It’s okay to be inspired by others that might have happened in Africa, but not okay when you fail to acknowledge the force you up against in your own case.
Nothing is impossible.

LOL... That's a very poor way to reason. You assume the military too won't be corrupt but theirs has always been worse, besides, those ones can decide to start picking anyone who says anything against them online and offline, freedom of speech, gone!

We've had coups happen in Nigeria before, in fact in the 70s and 80s it was the order of the day, so it's something that has been done and never yielded any result. The solution is for us to make sure we hold whoever is elected accountable. If they don't want to hear word, use social media, protest, votes and your voice to fight for yourself.
Nigerians held government accountable through unions and civil society, protests etc until APC came and practically outlawed protests. Buhari picked up whoever said or posted anything against APC. He even banned social media and jailed opposition but this same APC supporters kept supporting him. Buhari and Tinubu in the last 10 years systematically broke the spirits of Nigerian youths. Let me not even talk about endsars and the atrocities committed by APC government.

So it's funny when APC supporter suddenly come up with this cliche of hold government accountable...my question is how?

Under PDP, APC protested in Lagos Abuja and port Harcourt almost one every two weeks. Then they got to power and suddenly you must collect permission from them before you can protest....then they will organise a counter protest and police will stand and watch as the counter protesters beat and molest the legitimate protesters.

You said election...Lol
Thesame election were the Abuja loudmouth riggeed openly and APC supporters clapped for him?

The damage has been done and the consequences is just loading. By the time it comes full cycle even APC supporters will regret ever supporting APC

Any coup at this point will be the end of Nigeria. We either practice democracy or we go our way. The era of illegitimate northern rule through military coup is over.

Again, President Tinubu needs to fast track the reform of the military. The military must be decentralized with military equipment equally shared to the six regions. The era of over concentration of military weapons in the north must come to an end immediately.

Why Military Coup Is Hard in Nigeria

I once asked a recently retired Major General in the Nigerian Army why coups no longer happen easily in Nigeria. He explained that things changed drastically after the attempted coup that nearly claimed the life of former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida.

According to him, the military intelligence system was completely overhauled after that incident. It became so advanced, sophisticated, and deeply embedded across all security units that planning or executing a coup today is almost impossible without being detected early.

That’s why, since that time, Nigeria hasn’t witnessed a single successful coup.

He said Babangida called Abacha to save him that it was Abacha that saved him from the shame and what later happened was agreement between him and Abacha.

Say Babangida was under one underground road at Dodan Barracks Lagos that the Military already took over and Abacha sent thousands of troops from outside to come in when he sent save our soul to Abacha

After the coup, Babangida immediately took FCT to North where he feels safer .
Tinubu can run it to Lagos where he feels safer too.

What you said above wasn't entirely truth. After IBB came Abacha and Abacha was killed using poison apple by coup plotter.

So if bloody or physical coup is impossible, silent one can be applicable.

Nigeria Army is wary of coup. It is no longer a welcome development

No, the situation is different now, the contemporary world is now all about alignment. The only reason military coup was popular then is because of foreign interest or influence.

Once there is no real interest/influence from a powerful blocs, the other sections of the country that have competitive advantages will be listen to by international community.
You are really joking walahi. Do you really think the international community give a hoot about any section of this country with competitive advantage? See the way the country is going if it happens nobody will give a hoot especially if the military regime guarantees the interest of the power blocs.

Work up to this thread this morning to see that many of the top comments to this thread on the first page have been hidden by the mods but the pro-Tinubu comments remain standing. Why is nairaland attempting to reshape the narrative from what it actually is? I've been observing this happening severally lately. Seun, you need to investigate this.

The economy might swiftly collapse. there will be capital flight out of the country. The Naira might enter into free fall. To end a Southern presidency by Northern officers will be frowned upon by many in the South.

This isn't Niger, Mali or Burkina Faso.
There is no such thing as South. Stop twisting things because it is quite annoying.

Nobody in the rest of the country outside the South West would bat an eyelid (of course apart from the few who benefit directly from the political rot).

There is nothing like North vs South. This stinky presidency is strictly a Yoruba affair that has alienated everybody else. Let that be abundantly clear. If these people are banking on a fictive 'Southern Solidarity', then they are out of their bleeping minds. You can't eat your cake and have it.

My question is, how do you intend to end Nigeria?

After going on rampage in Lagos to destroy Igbo businesses, what else will you do?

Can you lift a finger on a place like Dangote refinery?

Stop this ascription of overestimated political intelligence. Be thankful that it didn't happen. I am glad it didn't anyway. Military rule is a lawless system where a few individuals become the law and the supposed order.

Only those who probably were unborn or too young to understandably witness military administrations will think the uniform guys are better. If they took power, we won't be on this forum expressing divergent political opinions without fear of disappearing mysteriously.

No matter what, I will always pray against a military rule. Na small children dey think say military dictatorship na fun. Make una ask una papa how far that year. Many didn't know how incapacitated President Buhari felt as a civilian leader. Dude wished it was 1984 when he could act unilaterally, arbitrarily and ruthlessly. That's why he struggled to govern as a civilian leader. He saw being a civilian president as bound in shackles. Thus he grew aloof and let things run anyhow.

Military dictatorship doesn't belong in this age.
Why are wasting time on someone who in the face of serious danger.. a military coup.. an aborted military coup.. with all coloration of another attempt, thinks the target.. the president is a demigod ?

A president.. a servant leader, elected by some people, a demigod?

I laugh in Dothraki language.

And yes, he should be grateful to God it didn't succeed.

It's still not yet uhuru ooo.

Hmmm.
