Farmers In The House......how MARKET????? by betabread(op): 8:10pm On Oct 30, 2025
Good evening Everyone:

Farmers in the house..... As we approach the dry season, I will like to ask how has this year been for you.I must attest this has been a very bad year me as a farmers by way of prices...... Its so bad dat cassava DAT has been my backbone DAT sold 28k this time last year sells for only 7k this year( what will remain after expenses; very little). ....
Its only pepper that went extremely high this year and I did not plant pepper...... I currently have fresh corn selling @ farm gate for 35k per bag but my offftaker are taking only little, they are telling me that if my corn enters the market enmass that the price of corn will fall as potato and plantain is already out..........

How are others doing

huhhuh?

It's rather funny when a person complains about deflation, but I do understand your lament since your inputs would have not deflated too.

My question however is, why, or what made the price of cassava drop? Is it because of oversupply, or is Tinubu juju working?

Most times a sharp drop in grain prices has a boomerang effect on other staples because food choices of the consumer spread. In this case, rather than the consumer go for cassava that commands a higher price, he'd opt for maize or rice which is lower in price. Low demand and over supply of cassava would inevitably result in drop in prices.
