Aurora Lab, a Nigerian artificial intelligence innovation centre, is launching a bold invitation: bring us your toughest real-world problems and let’s build AI that fixes them. The initiative challenges the trend of AI remaining in theory, labs, and conferences. Aurora Lab wants solutions that touch everyday lives — in classrooms, hospitals, farms, businesses and communities. From Ideas to Impact The hub is built around three ambitious goals: • Deliver high-impact AI solutions for Africa • Build globally competitive AI business products • Train world-class Nigerian engineers ready for the international stage Aurora Lab says the real breakthrough is in its pipeline — one that connects people who deeply understand local challenges, engineers who can build practical technology, and partners committed to measurable results. The Problems They Want Submissions are open across critical sectors, including: • Education: access, quality, teacher support, learning outcomes • Healthcare & public health • Agriculture & food security • Climate & environmental sustainability • Economic development & governance • Business & SMEs: operations, growth, finance, customer engagement Every idea will pass through a structured review. Selected problems will then be refined and co-created with partners to produce AI tools designed to attack root causes — not just symptoms. The Bottom Line If you see a challenge slowing Nigeria or Africa down, Aurora Lab wants to hear from you. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BwhPnUasR/?mibextid=wwXIfr |

I don't know why I kinda find this funny, like AI is some magical wizard that can solve any problem. Besides most things AI can do (reliably) has probably been explored by NVIDIA/google/open AI since they stand to gain the most from those solutions (esp. NVIDIA) Any other new thing people might come up with and send to them e.g medical diagnosis/medical assistant, AI can't do it reliably (yet) it's risks (wrong/hallucinated diagnosis) far outweigh the merits, enough that even google and the likes aren't pushing for it (yet). But who knows, there might be some localised problem those big tech missed, but I believe you don't necessarily need "AI" to solve those issues as a normal cleverly designed software/hardware can solve those problems. |

The way things are going now, AI seems to be smarter than the average human. Singularity might just be closer than we thought. We're watching and waiting. |

The drunk in the street corner can offer solutions to complex problems. The real question is who will implement them? Action is the difficult part. We have sat to draw solutions to our problems since time immemorial. Nobody is ready to take the required action(s). This exercise will be a waste of time and hope. |
