Please don't advise people to do NOUN. If you are using NOUN, please have option B because the school can frustrate you. Trust me
@pyruvateluv, i sure know the moniker from the NOUN thread on nairaland ...
pyruvateluv:
here
.

although, you may not be able to link my monikers [my moniker as a NOUN student was used to share a MEGA file/folders for M.Sc Info Tech MATERIALS/GENERAL OVERVIEW ], i have long deleted the account upon graduation.

I am writing this because i believe you should have been through with your program now probably waiting for convocation.

In honesty, i am quite surprised, as i had a fantastic time during my time, however, just as people have divers view to same purpose, i understand with you. In my situation, NOUN is in fact by far better than most "conventional" universities out there. to be honest, its rather more compromising to consider an institution as young and tech daring as NOUN to thrive in such a space of less than a decades in this third world country. To say the least, it is provocative comparing it to so called great schools who have existed for more than half a century, yet deteriorating in almost all fronts. May i tell you, that i went to a so called "21st century University" as an undergraduate? and the least i could expect is the best i got from them when it came to requesting for my transcript; to be pithy, they are pitiful. in order to maintain my sanity and that of those who have opposing opinion, i will keep the name of the school out of this.

Well, as said earlier, i think everyone, more importantly those, who have gone through some of these glorified Nigerian "conventional institution" should also consider NOUN at some point in their postgraduate studies. Aside the infamously believed issue of missing script which fortunately i didn't witness, i doubt there are much one can take against them which are not prevalent in 99% of any Nigerian Universities local or private. That said, i strongly believe all thing being equal, NOUN should be given a try.

For the record:
* i finished my undergraduate in a local Nigeria university, no additional day, - same as NOUN - so no partiality [B.Sc - 4yrs+8months due to AASU Strike, dont ask Y;;; M.Sc - 1year + 0 month - yes AASU strike but e no dey affect NOUN]
* I request my transcript from Undergraduate uni for N27,300 + $50 verification (for email verification o) shocked no be just to send an email, again? undecided - as usual, they need to fuel gen, buy data plan and cry me all over - note this is official figure - i.e ~20K for VERIFICATION via email. Yet, this took 3 weeks to send acknowledgement EMAIL to WES - This is pathetic. (note transcript was applied for online at the school portal - meaning they believe they are technology savvy #yinmu). In addition, did i tell you, they do not have a call-in/toll-free/call center number? meaning you must know person or waka go there, even if nah yankee you dey? did i?
* I equally requested for transcript for Postgraduate from NOUN at the rate of N25,000 + 0= ZERO cost for VERIFICATION! Juicy as this may seem, it is most interesting to know that it was processed in 1 week sent and delivered in 4days afterwards! and wait, they use DHL also which is the most expensive courier but best for the value we all can tell. and must you know, the verification was done the following day and acknowledged received by WES within 20hrs. meaning Light dey, internet dey work too and i called their very responsive call-in/call center number.
* and to crown it up, i didn't have to lobby any lecturer or feel intimidated by any lecturer because i had a beautiful GF whom a lecturer is interested in.

I wish i can continue, but let me come and waka go before you think i work for noun, as a matter of fact it is government owned so profit isn't their target. and i think dey still get sense IMO.

I feel we should talk. In your spare time one of these days, please PM me.

AND to every one who is at the bridge of considering a CRS increase, the link in this post tells alot especially for M.Sc Info Tech, i am sure someone will get inspired.

Just as life, NOUN is worth trying. No one said it will be easy but surely, it is worth the try!

Hello E-Fam,

Please would like some input on this.

I have some pending interviews like part of this week and next week.

I have an offer of 65k/yr presently from the first interview I have ever done in Canada just last week.

Just got into the country last month...started applying for jobs the first week of this month.

For someone in ONT is this good offer or should I see what the other guys will offer.

Elder Blackbuddy Help your boy oh!
Congrats bro...just the right time...so happy for you...

bros how did you go about it?, i mean is the profession not Regulated or some simply get LUCKY? ...if yes, this your own must be miracle...more like it i pray...

Once again congrats, and please respond regarding I.T being regulated [Network/Admin/Server] or is the regulation province dependent? or certain criteria?

i. From CIC webpage: ''How much money you should bring?

The question would be best answered on the express entry thread.

ii. There is a mix up somewhere. Maybe you thought I was Fusion, theCongo, rainazoe or one of the other IT guys on here because I am definitely not into IT or Telecoms. I am in Electrical, T & D.
First off, i will like to thank you hugely for taking out time to respond, and also SWIFTLY, i appreciate...a lot.

However, my question 1. wasn't really asking "how much money you should bring?" rather it is viability of means of proof of the fund...i.e what means i need to show in order to be allowed entry in what form it is in...say it this way, with a scenario, i use TBill and statement of account for POF pre-ITA and during the PR process...however, at the PORT OF ENTRY, i am informed from the FSW thread, that one can encounter, some overzealous officer, who asked that they show minimum POF e.g they meet the required minimum $19,093 CAD equiv. of 5.4mill NGN [for family of 3] and so on.

so now the question for my situation is, at the Port of Entry, should by any means i meet such case, will my TBill certificate of about 30K+ CAD and other liquid cash of about 5-9K CAD cash in hand, be enough to show, or Do i wait until the TBill is liquidated into a cash/Dollar/dom account before landing? or even convert all the money into cash, declare and then suffer the hurdle of opening an account and depositing as early as in few hours or days of landing...asap, its dreadful even holding that amount around for even to the airport/out of naija self....haha nah naija we dey tongue shocked wink

Also, i didn't ask that from our sister thread, as i presume, it is more appropriate here rather there...as this question is more targetted to those who now have landed and living there, instead of relating to migration requirement, plans and prospect. abeg pardon my guileless!

ii.
oh, dear me....i messed this up, hahaha abeg pardon the mix up, abeg my Canny I.T guru, how market nah? make unah help me out...
Alberta, Ottawa what are my chances,,,,CCNA+MCP+MSc Info Tech,3yrs+ in Telecom, including 5yrs+ in I.T/Server Mgt, family of 3[i, wife+3yr kid].

ehe, i also heard, dem say dem say, for a regulated profession thingy, my NOC being 2147, i read&hope my assumption of I.T being regulated isn't mixed up? so does that mean i have to wait 1year of internship/pass the exams in order to begin working as a professional, even if by then, i already got my CCIE before landing?

abi them no dey recognize this Cisco/Microsoft certifications thingy or even the holy grail exam at all ni?

cc:
Fusion,
theCongo,
rainazoe

Once again, i like to say, a very big thank you and hope this meet you all well.

Thanks a lot

Like most developed countries, immigration plans are made based on economy prosperity, party in power, infrastructure/social services on ground e.t.c.

Just 6 years ago, Immigration to Canada favoured older and more experienced workers, but it now favours younger migrants, higher education and strong language skills. Some friends that would have easily quailfied to migrate to Canada just 6 years ago can't even attain 400 points on the EE calculator, so if the current rule favours you, best to apply asap.
Oga Salford1, i hail o, and other elders in the house; abeg i gather some questions com, please hep touch light...

i. In the case of POF, i intend using TBill that most certainly would not be liquidated into cash by the time of entry...now at POE, will i be demanded a raw cash, in bank/draft/card or will the TBill/Mutual Fund Certificate be acceptable... along with SOA and maybe 5-9k CAD in cash.

ii. I understand, [being an avid reader of this resourceful thread and fan of you oga Salford] that you're into I.T, abeg how readily can i get a job as TELECOM ENGINEER or maybe I.T Specialist, in say Alberta or Ottawa [researched these are top-notch places for I.T with balance in standard of living/opportunity] currently hold an active CCNA&MCP+M.Sc and work in a telecom coy with about 3 years+ experience.

iii. The dilemma now is that, i recently joined naija biggest telecom coy, with more than Half a mill naira monthly as take home after tax/pension/etc, that sounds crazy, but that's the truth...please candidly advice, as relatively as you can, from experience from both sides, what do you think i do...move on with my plans of migration for next year or stay put and probably give my kids the life i wanted instead i.e they stay oversea, while i stay put here.

And finally, abeg pardon my manners, hope you're good? and i am glad to say, i have always enjoyed your selfless services, vigor and those nicely taken pictures,,,sure, you're great at it....@Mr. Blackbuddy, i hail too, along with many others, this page wont allow me write all....just to say thanks and i look forward to receiving your honest responses.

Thank you.
