I'll have options of choosing between PHP/RUBY ON RAILS ,,but have to scale which does the work better.

As Kobojunkie said I shouldn't first think of programming or even what language I will write my solution in, until I have a well written specification detailing exactly what I need, what is feasible, and the scope. Then I work on a good analysis and design document.

You Guys Are Just Awesome! Am grateful, I think I will Start with UML modeling and some planning, but I don't have much time on my hand.

I will try nginx as Fayimora suggested, but am not conversant with it,but shall give it a shot.

@Kobojunkie I've tried documenting on the project,and I think I need more documentation based off on you guys advice and suggestion.

Thanks very much, am convenient with Apache,language being PHP or ruby on rails. I intended integrating forum and newsletter,(enrollment form,checking of results with scratch cards) How do i go about the in-parenthesis.

Nota bene:
students will only have access student sections(admission,result,your "students section",and any other upgrade), forum.

Hey, consult a consultant? don't buy the idea. In this section there are people who have done similar projects, and thats more to the reason I requested for procedures on this section.

Hello fellows, I would like to hear your own procedures. Building a school website, from where the students et teachers can access and upload data(teachers(assignments,grades,..),students(answers,check results...)). The students can check their results with scratch card,enroll for entrance exam by filling online form(like jamb).(how do i go about the scratch card generation and management).

please I need guidelines on how to provide such services through the website,what are the requirements,what and which skill is sufficient to successfully implement such project.

This is my first project,so please I need your advice.

I've done it am now ready to go, in got the downloaded vim in the http%3a%2f%2flug.mtu.edu%2fcygwin%2f folder and extracted with the terminal from where i did the installation.

ekt_bear: If you want to use vim, just find, download and install vim for windows.

But it probably isn't the most efficient or pleasant way to write and edit ruby code.

I like it for certain tasks, but this isn't one of them.
Thanks , but I don't think that works together with cygwin terminal.

delomos: You might like this, http://www.jetbrains.com/ruby/ if you're not a hardcore linux'er, VIM or EMac for Rails dev isn't that productive.
Remember am just still learning and with the tutorial am dealing with, it prohibits me from using any IDE, cos it wants me to have a feel of what coding is really like , before moving to any IDE.

I prefer vim cos that's what i use on linus, and I now run linux instance on windows pc, moreover switching to new editor cos I can't seem to figure out how to make it work on my linus instance is not a good idea at all.

ekt_bear: Ruby has some really great libraries for web development (and for programming in general), so I prefer it to some of the alternatives.

Python is also good.

PHP and Perl, I don't have a very high opinion of, but again you can find good frameworks to use.

Do you know much about ruby? I 've been on venture into ruby on rails ,but could u imagine I got stuck when i wanted to use vim for editing, only to realize that vim was not installed.yet i made sure that i checked it while installing with cygwin. did a "which vim" ,and there was no instance of vim path. Hello, is there any way i can install or compile into they already installed bundle of ruby on rails, I've already installed sqlite,git,curl,ruby,ruby gem,rails,make and would not like to start all over again.

[color=#000000]Nota Bene:[/color] I did singly checked vim to download and install only vim using cygwin, but its wasting my bandwidth with lots of dependencies.
Any Idea?

Hello Guys;
its been a long time ,I've been studying studying and stu... other stuffs(scripting langs), and now am back to my c++ and just to extend this prog, it kept printing the first word, but I want it to print the whole input from cin.please any explanation on how i could do this.B plays fine, but A messed up cos i wanted the user to control what should be printed.

Also I have been trying to implement quick sort algo, but just learning the algo without practical implementation, its not just only quick sort algo ,but many other also. Any example instance where i can implement such algos would be appreciated.

We all could recall that last year's jamb website used to feature "edit registration feature" , with options which involved changing of school, course of study, other minor changes, and their usual high performance server.

And behold now we are presented with a more improved version of the all "POWERFUL JAMB WEBSITE", which kindly disables all the important features.
When I realized that those features were no more, it didn't not take me seconds to call it a rip off in disguise.

Imagine the order; disable those handles so that we would collect more money from them when they come for change of course and institution".
My fellow Nigerians , does it mean that all of us should fold our hands and watch this and many like this rip us off our hard earned money.

^^NOTA BENE; am not talking of speed based on the two codes, sorry I had to modify the code when i found the problem.
am talking of speed based on the two functions, Sleep() and Slowprint(), example is , when I pass value of 500 to both, using only Sleep() in code A and using only slowprint() in code B the delay time is never the same result, does it have anything to do with codes in windows.h file .

Ok I found that, Now my problem again is ; since the code is for slow printing, and it is supposed to do the same thing as
Sleep() that resides in windows.h file, what is then the need for including the Sleep function, where passing value in mm seconds to
slowprint() would produce the same effect.

And also I noticed that the speed difference between the two functions.
