After 27 year old Julia Martin from Detroit broke off her engagement six months ago to her boyfriend of three years, she knew the right thing to do would be to return her engagement ring. According to police, when Julia's ex fiancé, 35 year old Rodney Harvey came over to her apartment on the premise of collecting the ring last Friday night, he forced open the door when she answered the door and stabbed her repeatedly before jumping to his death from her apartment window. Julia Martin tried to save her own life by instantly calling the Police and her Dad after Harvey jumped off the window. She grabbed her phone and called police about 7 p.m. She told them the name of the man who stabbed her and asked them to send an ambulance for her. Then she called her dad but her dad didn't check his phone until much later in the day. http://www.alteech.ml/2016/10/man-kills-himself-by-jumping-out-window.html Her dad Derrick Martin said Monday: “Not only did she call me, she texted me while she was going through all this. It read: “Call me ASAP". “She was calling everybody, saying that she wanted help. She called another friend and she was panting over the phone, trying to get her breath. He thought it was a prank and he hung up on her. He feels so bad" Derrick Martin said his daughter never gave him any rreason to worry that the man she spent so much of her life with was dangerous. He said: “There was no indication he was dangerous … I never would’ve thought that in a million years”. “She never went into that much detail about how bad it was, she was just telling me that they had broke it off and that she was planning on giving the ring back,” Derrick Martin said a week before her death, Julia called him and asked them to hang out, so he drove several miles to meet his daughter and that they went to a winery and enjoyed each other’s company, he said. “God works in mysterious ways,” Derrick Martin said. “He must’ve known it was going to be my last time to see her.” Julia Martin was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m. from multiple sharp force injuries. Harvey was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. at the same hospital. His death was ruled a suicide.

Sometimes in your relationship, you find it difficult to ascertain whether your man truly loves you or not. If you happen to find yourself in this situation, you would want to take a look at my 14 true love signs below: 1. If he constantly keeps an eye contact with you: This definitely shows how much a man loves you because, in real sense, majority of guys do look away if they are not interested in you. 2. Always interested in knowing more about you: Obviously, a man will always want to know more and more things about you, wanna go deeply on the inside instead of just on the surface. If he does so, this shows he is in love with you. 3. Cuddling you: If a man loves cuddling you, doing small touches on you whenever the opportunity comes. This however shows he is really in love with you. 4. He forgives you always: If your man tends to be the first to talk to you after a serious misunderstanding no matter whose fault it is and can't stay a long period of time angry with you, that definitely shows he is in love with you. 5. He shows you off: When a man is madly in love with you and very proud to have you, he takes you along with him where ever he goes and never hesitate to introduce you to his friends and family. 6. He loves making you laugh: Relationships are not to be boring and mean all the time. If your guy always tries to make you laugh and make fun in order to make you happy all the time, he is really the guy you ought to spend your whole life with! 7. He is always happy when he sees you and love spending time with you: It's quite true that he wouldn't want to spend much time with you if he doesn't feel anything for you. If your man is always happy whenever he sees you or is with you, it's a clear indication that he loves you. 8. If he gets jealous a little bit: Sometimes when a guy gets jealous a little bit, it is a clear indication that he has feelings for you. 9. He loves doing things you like: If a man tries as much as possible to do things you like in order to make you happy shows how much he loves you. 10. He is very protective: If your man is very protective over you, it shows how much he cares because he loves you. 11. He accepts responsibility: No matter whatever negative situation that comes up, he is always there for you and stands by you until everything turns good. Even though you mistakenly got pregnant, he accepts responsibility and not making you pass through one abortion to the other. 12. He loves being his real self to you: If a man doesn't pretend for you and he is always his true self when with you, this shows true love and trust. 13. He treats you with respect: If a man truly loves you, he will respect you, your desire and who you are. True love comes with respect. 14. He plans the future with you: If you are dating a guy who doesn't plan the future with you and only cares about getting you on his bed, my sister you need to to think twice. The Department of State Services DSS has given reasons for raiding the homes of some of the judges across the country over allegations of corruption leveled against them. An agent of the security agent, Garba Abdullahi, gave reasons at a press conference this afternoon. Read a copy of his press statement after the cut... Good afternoon gentlemen of the Press. The Department of State Services (DSS) in the past few days, has embarked on series of special sting operations involving some Judges of the Supreme, Appeal and High Courts. These operations were based on allegations of corruptions and other acts of professional misconduct by a few of the suspected Judges. The Service action is in line with its core mandate, as we have been monitoring the expensive and luxurious lifestyle of some of the Judges as well as complaints from the concerned public over judgment obtained fraudulently and on the basis amounts of money paid. The judges involved were invited, upon which due diligence was exhibited and their premises searched. The searches have uncovered huge raw cash of various denominations, local and foreign currencies, with real estate worth several millions of Naira and documents affirming unholy acts by these Judges. Meanwhile, some of them have made useful statements while a few have declined even with the glaring evidences that were found against them in terms of material cash, documents and property recovered pointing to their compromise. In one of the States where the Service operations were conducted, credible intelligence revealed that the Judge had Two Million United States Dollars ($2,000,000 USD) stashed in his house. When he was approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the State Governor, mobilized thugs against the Service team. The team restrained itself in the face of unbridled provocative activities by those brought in by the Governor. Unfortunately, the Judge and Governor also engaged the tacit support of a sister security agency. The Service surveillance team noticed that upon frustrating the operation, the Judge with the active support of the Governor craftily moved the money to an unknown location which the Service is currently making effort to unravel. Meanwhile, large amount including foreign/local currencies have been recovered. Summaries of these include: SUMMARY OF RECOVERED MONEY 1. NAIRA – N93,558,000.00 2. DOLLARS – $530,087 3. POUNDS – £25,970 4. EURO – €5,680 Other foreign currencies were also recovered. This were recovered from just three (3) of the judges. These in addition to other banking documents, including real estate documents have been recovered. Meanwhile preparations are ongoing to arraign them in a competent court of jurisdiction in line with the laws of the nation. The Service would want to clearly state that it has never invited Justice Walter NKANU ONNOGHEN for investigation, neither is he being investigated by this Service. In addition the Service would like to put it on record, that it has tremendous respect for the Judiciary and would not do anything to undermine it or its activities. The Service will also join hands with this noble institution in its fight to rid it of few corrupt Judges whose actions is undermining not only the Judiciary but the common bond of our national life. Ladies and gentlemen, this current operation will be sustained and followed till sanity and sanctity is restored to the esteemed third arm of government and public confidence is regained. Members of the public are also encouraged to avail the Service of any information which could assist in this drive to rid our nation of corrupt practices and tendencies. THANK YOU. Abdullahi GARBA, Department of State Services, Abuja. 8th October, 2016. http://www.alteech.tk/2016/10/why-we-raided-homes-of-some-judges-in.html

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has ordered the immediate lifting of the ban on rice importation from import restriction list and the re-introduction of import duty payment at land borders. Public Relations Officer of customs, Wale Adeniyi announced this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja today. “Over the years importation has been restricted to the seaports because border authorities have found it difficult to effectively monitor and control importation of rice. When the decision to ban it rice was taken, it was not an effective measure because smuggling of the product thrives with people using different means of conveyance including small trucks, bicycles and even animals putting them on donkeys and some actually carry it on their heads. These new measures will be for customs to re-organize their anti-smuggling operations in the border areas and ensure that all those importers through the borders bring their rice through approved routes and pay their extant duty”he said http://www.alteech.tk/2016/10/customs-lifts-ban-on-importation-of-rice.html

The Data center opened in 2013, and was our first outside the US. Wherever possible, we used the beautiful wood and art of the area to showcase local craftsmanship. The equipment is reduced to its basics so it runs cooler. It can also be easily accessed and repaired quickly. A few years ago, it took an hour to repair a server hard drive. At Luleå, that’s down to two minutes. Click to view more details http://alteech..com.ng/2016/09/facebook-data-center.html

Allo is finally available, and it offers a first look at what's possible with Google Assistant. Assistant is Google's AI chatbot that answers questions by drawing on the vast trove of information it has collected over the years. It suggests replies in conversations, offers recommendations on nearby points of interest, tells bad jokes, plays games with you, and so on. Unlike Google Now, interacting with Google Assistant feels more personal and conversational. If you're just getting started with Google's latest messaging service, we've got you covered. Setting up Allo Haven't gotten around to downloading Allo just yet? Here's the Play Store link. Once you're done downloading the app, it's a straightforward process to register using your phone number. We've covered the basics of getting started with the app below: How to install and set up Allo Allo and text messages First off, Allo isn't a Hangouts replacement. You can't set the messaging service as the default SMS client on your phone. It does offer the ability to message a contact that doesn't have Allo installed through Play Services, but that's about it. You can also talk to contacts over SMS, with the message itself routed through Google's servers, but Allo isn't an SMS service by design. In this regard, it has more similarities to WhatsApp than iMessage. Allo is mobile-first, which means that right now, there's no way to access it over the web. It requires your phone number to register, and you can only use it on one device at a time. Google will add more functionality to the app over time, but for now, Allo is in the proverbial beta stage that we've come to expect from many Google services. Here's how Allo handles text messages Here's what you need to know about Allo and phone numbers All the features of Allo Allo is loaded with functionality that differentiates it from the slew of messaging services available today. First up is Google Assistant, which offers contextual information within chats, reply suggestions, emoji parties, and much more. Assistant is always running in the background, and is there to assist when needed. Sharing a picture of food? It'll ask if you want to take a look at restaurants nearby. Interested in going out? It'll offer a list of nearby attractions, events, and movies right there in the chat window. The messaging service also offers an incognito mode for private chats, and you can choose from a variety of stickers for when words just aren't enough. These are the top Allo features you need to know Traveling with Allo Allo is tied to your main phone number, but you can switch your SIM card out while traveling and continue to use the service without any issues. As long as you don't active Allo on another device with the same number, you'll be able to access the service. Here's how SIM card switching works in Allo Should you use Allo? Allo is just getting off the ground, and as such there are several features missing from it. Even though it's tied to your Google account, chats are stored locally, and don't make their way across when you switch to a new device. That, and the lack of a desktop client, are the biggest drawbacks for me, but these issues should (hopefully) be fixed shortly. For context, WhatsApp didn't have a chat backup feature for years. I remember transferring WhatsApp conversations in text format to my email to preserve them when switching devices. Overall though, Google may have missed a beat by not bundling Duo into Allo. Video calling is the one feature that isn't available on WhatsApp or Messenger, and if Google managed to bake it into Allo, it would've gotten a decent headstart over its rivals. Google Assistant is great, but it needs a lot of polish before it can be usable every day. While Google works on that, I have the arduous task of convincing my friends and family to switch to Allo. Samsung has made an unofficial commitment that until they have already exchanged those recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices, they will not be selling any new versions of the phablet. Probably that is one of the reasons why they are eager to announce almost every step of the process, apart from the fact that it is also part of their reputation management. Their latest official statement is that almost half of the devices that were voluntarily returned by users in the US have already been replaced with new versions of the Galaxy Note 7. This means that the Korean OEM has replaced almost 500,000 units of the units that were returned. There are still probably a lot of owners who have not taken advantage of the exchange program for their own safety, thinking that the exploding batteries may have just been isolated incidents. But of course Samsung doesn’t want to take any chances and they have strongly urged owners to recall their phablets and then wait for the replacement units whose batteries have already been changed and software updated. Samsung also stated in their (very) brief statement that 90% of those that availed of the exchange program still chose to get a new Galaxy Note 7 rather than taking the money and buying a different phone from a different brand. Of course they would have to trumpet that fact as they don’t only stand to lose a lot of money, but also they need to rebuild their reputation as a smartphone maker after this. We still don’t have an idea on how all of this will affect Samsung’s bottom line. It really is a tough break for the brand as they were just slowly recovering from losses of the past years and had a potential winner in the Galaxy Note 7 since the other flagships for this year, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, were doing really well in the market. The lack of coordination between the nation’s fiscal and monetary authorities has become manifest as the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, yesterday, refused to cut interest rate, as suggested by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun. The Finance Minister had on Monday, called on the CBN to lower interest rate, so the government could borrow domestically to boost the economy without increasing debt servicing costs. But Governor of the CBN, Mr.Godwin Emefiele, who briefed the press at the end of the Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, meeting in Abuja, said rate cuts in the past did not result in banks giving credits to the real sectors of agriculture and manufacturing as instructed. He said a cut in the rate at a time inflation was rising could worsen the nation’s economic situation. Emefiele said: “Whereas the Minister of Finance has called for a reduced interest rate at this time, the MPC decides otherwise. Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and Governor of the CBN, Mr.Godwin Emefiele, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and Governor of the CBN, Mr.Godwin Emefiele, “Basically, like I said, both the monetary and fiscal authorities have the intention to achieve growth, but the direction through which we want to achieve it may differ as long as you still achieve the growth. “The issues here, just as we have read in the communique, is that when you say reduce the interest rate, there are two possibilities here. “You are saying because you want that to push credit to the private sector at lower rate, or two which I have had the fiscal authorities talk about, is to be able to borrow at lower rates and spend. “Our view at the MPC, which was exhaustively discussed, was that in the past, there was a time when MPC decided, not only to reduce the policy rate, but, indeed, also increased the Cash Reserve. Past rate cuts channeled to traders “These were intended to lower rates and encourage spending, particularly to the private sector. After we did that, because we did not see the impact of credit to the private sector, we needed to further redo the CRR. During that first section, we reduced the CRR from 30.5 to 25%. “It provided an opportunity for about N1trillion to be injected by the CBN into the economy or made available to the banks. “But rather than loan this mony to the banks or loan them to the consumers, or agriculture and manufacturers, like we said in the communique, we found that those credit went to traders, who used them to demand for foreign exchange, which ended up putting pressure on the foreign exchange market. That was what happened. “Subsequent to that, we said since this money wasn’t deployed directly, we would also be reducing the CRR, then from 25% to where it is right now, which is 22.5%. That was going to provide between N350 billon and N500 billion through that avenue. “But we said we are not going to allow the banks to really have the cash until they send proposals to the CBN for primary agric projects, new manufacturing projects and other projects that will spur industrial capacity and manufacturing output. “I must confess that the proposals we received were mainly for the purpose of refinancing the liquidity of the banks and we thought that was not what we wanted and that is the reason we have been a little circumspect about raising some of these liquidities. “But we are looking at the books and very few of them that have submitted proposals for agric, new manufacturing projects will be considered in due course. “The second part of it was that yes, if you lower interest rate, what that will do is that it will make it possible for the fiscal authorities to borrow at lower rates. “We are saying fine, if they borrow at lower rate, it simulates spending, what that does is that it simulates demands for goods by providing cash or money to be spent without taking actions to boost industrial capacity. “When you take actions to boost manufacturing output, what happens is that you will see a situation where you have too much money chasing too few goods, which will also worsen the inflationary condition in which we are now. FX inflow above $1 b since July “That is why we are saying the option that we will like to adopt is, while the fiscal is going ahead to spend, what we want to do is retain the rates where they are. “When you say retain the rates where they are, you are saying you want to defend a tight situation so that it will again, as we said at the last meeting, encourage the inflow of capital. “But I was not that optimistic, but today, I can report that I am looking optimistic because between July and now, we have seen inflow of foreign exchange (FX) of above $1 billion.” Emefiele said he was hopeful that with the improved inflow of foreign exchange into the country, the value of the nation’s currency would soon rise to the benefit of the economy. He, however, said the economy was still faced with “elevated risks on both price and output fronts.” All monetary policy instruments were retained at their current levels. Monetary Policy Rate, MPR, at 14 per cent, Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) at 22. 5 per cent; Liquidity Ratio at 30 per cent and asymmetric window at +200 and -500 basis points around the MPR. HID Awolowo HID Awolowo HID Awolowo passed away on September 19, 2015. The event which was tagged ‘One Year Memorial Anniversary Lecture’, was organized by the Yoruba Unity Forum, YUF. Notable Nigerians present at the event include, Chairman of the YUF, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi; Arch. She fought Yoruba unity—Gbonigi In his welcome address, chairman of YUF, Bishop Gbonigi, said HID Awolowo fought so much to ensure the unity among Yoruba nation. The cleric said, “Mama Awolowo fought for the unity of Yoruba nation until her death. When YUF was formed, she and late Okunade Sijuwade maintained that the first assignment as a group is to ensure the unity among the Yoruba nation”. She was a foremost Yoruba woman— Okurounmun Paying glowing tributes to the late matriarch, Senator Femi Okurounmun, described Awolowo as a foremost Yoruba woman in Nigeria. Okurounmun said, “HID Awolowo stepped into the shoes of her husband and played that role respectfully, gently without being arrogant. She was a fantastic politician and had a good knowledge of Nigeria politics even at her old age. She was the first among many within the Yoruba Unity Forum and she played the role of the Chairman of the forum while she was assisted by the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade. They both fought for the unity among Yoruba kings.” A uniting force among the Yoruba nation— Adefuye In his remarks, Senator Anthony Adefuye, said HID Awolowo during her life demonstrated that what a man can do, a woman can do better. He said, “Mama was the uniting force among the Yoruba nation. She played that fantastic role and brought all the Yoruba leaders under one umbrella and that is why she cannot be forgotten several years to come.” She left an indelible mark in Yoruba education—Prof Afolayan Speaking on the theme: “Eternal Sustenance of Yoruba language and culture”, Professor Adebisi Afolayan, said the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his wife, Mama HID Awolowo left an indelible mark in the Yoruba education and academics. Afolayan, who is the chief consultant for Language Education and Development, Ile-Ife, noted that “the late sage and his wife played a major role in the development of Yoruba education in the South-West but it unfortunate that today the standards of education has declined while the Yoruba language itself is being relegated by the people who should champion the cause.” He, however, insisted that “the study of our language should not relegated simply because we now speak other borrowed languages from other nations of the world. That is why we are calling for the usage of Yoruba language even in the primary schools.” In addition the university don said, “for the South-west and Yoruba nation to continually remember the late Awolowo and his wife, Yoruba leaders still living today must play a major role at ensuring that Yoruba education is promoted in our schools and free education is provided just like it was during the days of Awolowo.” Source:http://fudma2016..com.ng/2016/09/nigerians-remember-hid-awolowo-at-1st.html
