for the past three to almost four weeks now,the Nigerian military is keeping to its word, and their short term goal of clearing insurgency in the northern part of the country, especially the north east region, due to charge of strategies and direct order coming from the ogas at the top,the patriotic officers and the soldiers have been able to recover most of the areas formerly occupied by the notorious terrorist, with the arrival of new weapons and equipment,we are sure boko haram will soon be a thing of the past, but like any other war,a lot of heroes have fallen and a lot of innocent lives have been lost,Dont they deserved a medal or something because the war against bh,because this men and woman risk their lives to protect their families, the state and Democracy at large despite being discourage by a lot of factors like inadequate salary, low and outdated weapons compared to boko haram and a lot more issues,i think we should start an online trend here until it reaches the Aso rock so that every soldier that went to the war front will be honoured, especially the fallen heros,no forgetting the police and the civilian task force who risk their lives even though they are not recognised by the government,so that by the time they are through with their operations, they would be proud to have defended their motherland.pls comment below this article make its way to the front page by this, you too can #honourOurSoldiers deuces Reloaded magazine deucesreloaded..com

This past Wednesday, extremist group Boko Haram launched an attack on police academies located in the northeastern Borno state of Nigeria. Following an intense gun battle that continued for several hours, the group disappeared. In their wake, 35 police officers went missing. Emmanual Ojukwu, the police spokesman, released a statement that indicates an investigation is underway to locate the missing officers. Ojukwu said they have “promising prospects of locating them.” Officials are not sharing if they believe the men were killed or kidnapped by Boko Haram. Since 2009, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the deaths of 10,000 people in Nigeria. They have aimed massive attacks against police and military forces since that time. Reportedly, Boko Haram has taken control of major areas of Borno, and potentially a neighboring town in Yobe state. Pressure has been weak from government officials who called a state of emergency last May. President Goodluck Jonathan has come under scrutiny from citizens and world leaders, who indicate he is not providing more information for assistance. Earlier this year, Boko Haram entered the northeastern town of Chibok in Borno state, and launched an attack against an all girls school. They kidnapped more than 250 girls, more than 200 are still missing. Officials had previously hinted they know the whereabouts of the girls, but have done little to provide the information to countries who wish to assist. Nigerian officials advised they need to tread carefully when it comes to rescuing the girls, as they do not want to put them in further danger. They also outlawed all peaceful marches from citizens demanding the rescue of the girls, stating the marches could antagonize the situation with Boko Haram. With the most recent attack, and now 35 police officers missing, citizens are demanding a response from government officials. Boko Haram has left a path of bodies, destruction and has no intention of stopping. source:http://thelagostimes..com/2014/08/boko-haram-kidnaps-more-than-36.html |

A man believed to be a fan of Manchester United Football Club committed suicide Saturday night in Nairobi's Pipeline estate after the team lost 1-0 to Newcastle. Police said John Jimmy Macharia aged 23 jumped to his death from the 7th floor of a building he was after learning his team had lost in the Saturday evening match. According to Nairobi County police chief Benson Kibue, Macharia told his friends he could not stand and watch the team beaten in a row before he leapt down dying on the spot. "All witness accounts suggest he committed suicide because the team lost but officers are still talking to those who were with him as part of the investigations into the incident," he said. |

(CNN) - Nelson Mandela, the revered statesman who emerged from prison after 27 years to lead South Africa out of decades of apartheid, has died, South African President Jacob Zuma announced late Thursday. Mandela was 95. "He is now resting. He is now at peace," Zuma said. "Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father." "What made Nelson Mandela great was precisely what made him human," the president said in his late-night address. "We saw in him what we seek in ourselves." Mandela will have a state funeral. Zuma ordered all flags in the nation to be flown at half-staff from Friday through that funeral. Mandela, a former president, battled health issues in recent months, including a recurring lung infection that led to numerous hospitalizations. With advancing age and bouts of illness, Mandela retreated to a quiet life at his boyhood home in the nation's Eastern Cape Province, where he said he was most at peace. Despite rare public appearances, he held a special place in the consciousness of the nation and the world. |

"Aquatic farming have been in Nigeria for a very long time, and a common belief is you must be wealthy before you can start,it is mostly believed that retired generals and other big men are the only one with the resources to get involved, the most popular type of fishes rare are catfish and tilipia, each comes with their advantages and disadvantages, but it is better to start with catfish cause they grow faster and they are more marketable, what you first need is a tank,a plastic tank, you can even cut a geepee tank into two and use the base as the container,so the next thing you need is water to fill it up,then you need to order for fingerlings i.e the little fishes the price varies but you the average is #25,and as a beginner you can start with around 500 pieces, and you have to buy their food its everywhere in Nigeria for about #4,500 per bag that's 15kg,the more they grow the more they eat so you should estimate 7 bags you will nuture the fishes till they are due for sale that's in like 5 to 6 months time, and if you are lucky you fishes can weight up to 1.5kg and a kilo in the market sells for #650-#700 so minus casualties let's say 30 fishes died prematurely you will get a return of investment of about #300,000 in just 6 months for 500 pieces my mother is one of the biggest fish farmers in the north,so I'm talking out of experience "
