CrimeRevealed: Identities Of Police Officers Ambushed, Killed In Delta by Abaga001(op): 6:32pm On Mar 24, 2024
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially confirmed the killing of six officers in Delta State.

In January, three mobile police officers were kidnapped while answering a distress call in the Ohoro community, Ughelli North LGA.

They were part of a team of six deployed to a checkpoint along the Ughelli-Patani road. Weeks later, a rescue mission for the abducted officers resulted in another ambush, leading to the fatal shooting of the officers near the Ohoro forest in Ughelli LGA.

In a statement on Saturday, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said the bodies of the six slain officers have been recovered while the search for six other officers is ongoing.

“The bodies of six (6) of the slain officers have been recovered after a fierce search conducted by a combined team of police officers and other security outfits,” Adejobi said.

Trying to get rid of stubborn belly fat? The food you eat is as important as the exercises you do. Eating foods high in protein can help you feel full and lose fat, especially around your belly.

Here are eight great high-protein foods to help you on your journey to a slimmer waistline:

1. Eggs: Eggs are packed with protein and contain all the essential amino acids your body needs. Eating eggs for breakfast can help you feel full all day and eat fewer calories overall.

2. Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt has lots of protein and less sugar than regular yogurt. It’s good for your gut health and can help you manage your weight.

3. Lean Meats: Chicken breast, turkey, and lean cuts of beef are rich in protein and low in unhealthy fats. They also take more energy to digest, which helps burn more calories.

Music/RadioThe Street Is Everything And I Came From The Street -d’banj by Abaga001(op): 4:42pm On Mar 24, 2024
Renowned musician and CEO of Creative Reality Entertainment Arts and Music (C.R.E.A.M) Platform, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, delves into the essence of the MTN Best of the Street, a musical talent development initiative designed to unearth raw talent from grassroots communities in Nigeria and provide a global platform for these aspiring artists to exhibit their skills, executed in collaboration with CREAM Platform.

Reflecting on the project’s second edition, which witnessed an impressive influx of over a thousand entries, and saw the winner walking home with a grand prize worth 50 million naira, D’banj underscores the pivotal role of the streets in shaping talent and opportunity.

What do you see in the street and why do you think this project is important?

The street is where everything is and even I came from the street. Today, the biggest export we have is crude oil. Crude oil is found in the street, that is, in the ground, it is picked and refined into different products.

The same thing with talent, it is natural, God-given. You can pick it up and refine it, that is why MTN Best of the Street is so important. Today the biggest export, more than crude oil, is the creative industry. It is important to go out there instead of waiting, go out there and amass this talent so that we can nurture them, and make sure they don’t make the same mistakes we made so that they can maximize their opportunity, there is no better time than now.

How important is the partnership with MTN for a talent discovery program like this?

First of all, MTN has been a supporter of the creative sector and MTN is the biggest telco that we have. The world is digital today, meaning that MTN is in every household, and they don’t have to wait for anything because they have over 80 – 90 million subscribers.

They are already there, that’s why it is so important because MTN and the CREAM platform can now partner together to pick these talents without them leaving their homes, paying transport to come to Lagos, looking for accommodation and all that.

The fact that you have MTN and you know the CREAM platform means an opportunity can be presented to you and that is why I think partnering with MTN is very key.

Nairaland GeneralStory Of The Asaba, Delta State Massacre In 1967 by Abaga001(op): 2:51pm On Mar 21, 2024
During the civil war, The Nigerian troops had entered Asaba on the 4th day of October 1967, in pursuit of Biafran soldiers who had earlier crossed Ore after taking Benin and dislodging Nigerian troops there.

But because the Biafran soldiers had blown up the Niger bridge to make it impossible for the Nigerian side to pursue them, Nigerian soldiers led by Lieutenant-Colonel Murtala Muhammed simply settled in Asaba.

They started going from house-to-house killing people of the town who were accused of aiding the Biafran soldiers.

On the 7th day of October, after the house-to-house killing had gone on for days, the leaders of the town, in a bid to convince the Nigerian troops of their loyalty and support, summoned their people to come out in the street.

Hundreds of men, women, and children obeyed the summon and came out, mostly dressed in ceremonial white attire, singing, dancing, and chanting “One Nigeria”.

But the moment they got to the Ogbe-Osawa village square where the Nigerian troops were gathered, the soldiers separated the men and boys of 12 years and above from the women.

Orders were shouted. The guns were raised. The men and boys were showered with bullets, cut down in their prime. At the end of the bullet festival, more than 700 of them lay lifeless. There were dead bodies everywhere.

Nairaland GeneralSix Reasons Ramadan Is Called Ramadan by Abaga001(op): 1:43pm On Mar 21, 2024
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, spans either 29 or 30 days, determined by the visibility of the new crescent moon. Originating from pre-Islamic Arabia, the term Ramadan signifies intense heat, reflecting its association with a scorching hot summer month.

However, in the Islamic calendar, Ramadan’s timing shifts annually. This year, it commences at sunset on March 11, subject to the sighting of the new moon, highlighting the variance in the Islamic and Gregorian calendars, with the former being approximately 11 days shorter.

What is the significance of Ramadan?

Ramadan stands as a cornerstone of Islam, embodying fasting and spiritual elevation, alongside the pillars of faith declaration, daily prayers, almsgiving, and the pilgrimage to Mecca. During this sacred month, observant Muslims, in good health, refrain from eating, drinking, and intimate relations from dawn until sunset daily.
