BONNY KINGDOM OGBOBIRI ASAWO MARKS AMANYANABO'S 59TH BIRTHDAY WITH A VISIT TO BONNY GENERAL HOSPITAL


In a heartwarming gesture, the Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo celebrated the 59th birthday of His Majesty the King by visiting the Bonny General Hospital. Members of the organization thronged the hospital to pray for the patients and encourage them toward a speedy recovery, much to the admiration of the management, staff, patients, and their relatives.


The visit by Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo perfectly aligned with His Majesty's wish for people to use his birthday as an opportunity to reach out to the sick, indigent, less privileged, and elderly in society.
Led by the Chairman, Mr. Eugene Dennis Jumbo, Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo prayed for the patients' quick recovery and handed each of them a cash donation. The heartfelt gesture was in celebration and acknowledgment of God's grace in the life of our beloved King and father, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Edward I, Perekule XI, Natural Ruler and Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom.


In his speech, the Chairman of Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo informed the hospital management and staff that the organization was created by His Majesty the King to help in the general administration of the Kingdom, foster good relationships, and bridge communication gaps.
Mr. Eugene Dennis Jumbo said the visitation was to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty, adding that while people were celebrating outside, Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo thought it necessary to reach out to those who, by reason of health challenges, were unable to be part of it.


Hon. Sunju Bluejack, while gifting envelopes to the patients, declared that the gesture would automatically bring healing to them. Bishop Ibibem Bobby Pollyn complemented this declaration with prayers.
Dr. Anthony Daniel, the Medical Director of Bonny General Hospital, expressed his appreciation for the unprecedented gesture. He stated that in his many years of practice, which has taken him to various kingdoms and communities, this was the first time an organization had visited the hospital to pray for patients, encourage them, and give them cash gifts in commemoration of the king's birthday.


Dr. Daniel emphasized that the gesture by Bonny Kingdom Ogbobiri Asawo placed the organization on a very high pedestal as a group of responsible men who mean well for the king and the kingdom. He added that it was a clear indication of how His Majesty the King is loved by his people.


"I have been to many places; I have been to kingdoms and communities. I can tell you that this is the first time I see an organization visit a hospital to pray for the patients and give them cash gifts because their king or traditional ruler is celebrating his birthday. This shows that the king of Bonny Kingdom is well loved by his people. This kind of sacrifice can only be made out of love. This also shows that this organization comprises of very responsible men of Bonny Kingdom," Dr. Daniel said.


On behalf of the management, staff, and patients, Dr. Anthony Daniel wished His Majesty the King a very happy birthday and prayed that the king would celebrate for many more years to come.

BREAKING NEWS: ST. CHARLES SURGERY HOSPITAL IN BONNY ISLAND HAS BEEN REOPENED BACK 


St. Charles Surgery, a medical facility at Akiama, Bonny, which was sealed up as a result of an incident that occured on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, while the Managing Director, Dr. Charles John-Jumbo, was out of the country, has been reopened following a directive to that effect by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The reopening of the facility was performed on Saturday, June 8, by the Chairman of the Rivers State Anti-quackery Committee of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hope Avundah, who was accompanied by the Secretary of the committee, Dr. Vivian Ile.


While briefing newsmen after reopening the hospital, Dr. Avondah said "the state ministry of health had interfaced with the owner, and penalties and conditions have been met, and the Governor has directed that the facility be reopened to operate according to guidelines of medical practice, and we hope that the facility will follow in line with due process and standard medical practice."


Dr. Hope Avondah said the Governor of Rivers State is massively investing to revamp the Health Sector, of which both primary and secondary health sectors are receiving serious attention, including the Bonny General Hospital.
"We wouldn't want a situation where people will not be able to get what they desire in terms of medical care because of lack of access or unaffordability or negligence, especially in an emergency situation. By the magnanimity of the Executive Governor, this health facility, St. Charles Surgery, has been reopened to attend to the health needs of the people of Bonny community. There was massive outcry for it to be reopened; so we thank the Governor for listening to the demands of the people."


The Chairman of the Rivers State Anti-quackery Committee of the Ministry of Health also used the medium to inform the people of the Health Insurance Scheme under the Rivers State Health Protection Agency.
"It is one thing the people of Bonny should key into. With that one you will just walk into a health facility and they will attend to you because the mechanism for payment is there already. It means your bill will be sent to the Rivers State Health Insurance Program and it will be taken care of. So when you go to a hospital they don't need to wait until you have paid money before they start attending to you. This will save you the rigours of trying to pay money before a patient receives attention. I would like to advise Bonny people to take advantage of this program," Dr. Avondah concluded.


In her reaction, the Manager of St. Charles Surgery, Delight Moses, who spoke on behalf of the management, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for reopening the hospital.
"I wish to say thank you to our Governor for this gesture, though we were not culpable as it was reported on the social media. But I wish to say that we are here to give maximum service to the people of Bonny, like we have always done.


"Though personal tendencies of mannerisms or attitudes may hinder us sometimes - which you may not actually manage as it is unfolding, but we are reassuring that we are here to carry out our clinical activities in the actual professional manner that our Managing Director has been doing it."
Delight Moses went on to say that throughout her three years with St. Charles Surgery, they have never prioritized money over the life or wellbeing of their patients.


"Since I joined this organization three years ago, I have not seen that attitude of asking for money first before an emergency situation will be attended to. What I met here, and what has remained the standard here, is that people are quickly and promptly attended to in emergency situations to manage their health, so later, they can come and talk about the money. Definitely, you cannot rule out the financial perspective to managing a health facility like this one. But we make it a standard here to attend to emergency cases first before talking about money. So, I sincerely thank the Governor for reopening this facility."
