She got to her Lodge twenty minutes later to meet her room mate already set for night class, they met at the front of the door.

After a while, Jane slept off on the couch.

" where are you going " He asked

A week later, clement went to see Jay in his office, he was ushered into Jay's office by his secretary,
" hello guy" Clem hailed his friend

He saw Clem already sitted," hey this is my office, you should wait until I ask you to sit before doing so"

Clem sighed " Hope refused my proposal "

Clement was quiet for a while deep in thought, Jay continued,

It's been two weeks since he and Jay had discussed in Jay's office, he had pondered on what he told him and he had seen sense in them, his action is not justifiable, he had found out he still loves Jane even though his feelings for Hope is still intact but he found out his desire for the presence of Jane is even stronger than ever, he made up his mind to go see Jane, thanks to God Jay accepted to accompany him. But there is something he doesn't understand what is going on between his friend and Hope, he had noticed that his friend comes to his house more frequently than before and he always wishes to see Hope. That is not his business for now.
"I'm ready " He announced
" I'm coming along "
The two friends turned to see Hope fully dressed for an outing, they couldn't take their eyes off her because she was a beauty to behold in her long black gown, with heels to match and a light makeup which made her look gorgeous.
" excuse me? " Clem asked
" I said I'm coming along "
" no"Clem objected
"why not? I'm the cause of all these mess anyways, my presence could help "

Clement looked from Jay to Hope and reluctantly accepted, they entered the car and drove out.

Jane had been in a mourning state for the past weeks, all her friend's effort to bring her out of it proved abortive, she preferred being left alone either in her room or in the living room, she hardly eat or even take her bath.
" baby I'm going for a meeting and will be back soon okay? " Clara announced entering the living room.
Jane turned facing her,
" okay, have a nice day "

" Jane, your anger is justified, please we are here to see you " Jay said
" I'm sorry Jay but this man can't enter into my house " she said pointing at Clem.
" like I said before, if you push us out of your compound, you're right, even if you rain insult on us, you're still right but please hear us out,hear him out "
Jane left the door opened and went inside, they understood the sign and followed her.
" sit" she told them
Only Jay and Hope sat, Clem knelt down in front of Jane,
" I've been a fool, wallowing in the ocean of my foolishness, I thought I was right, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, trust me "
" trust you? are you serious? If that's what you came here for, please leave my house "
" please my love... "
" don't you ever! don't call me that! You know what? I think you've overstayed your welcome, leave. "
" aunty jane" Hope stood up " I know how you feel, I understand your feelings but please forgive him, we all make mistakes, please"

They all laughed with Hope bending her head shyly
" how e take happen? " Clem asked
" from the hospital when she was admitted, seeing her on that hospital bed made me want to see her every day, I fell in love with this adorable woman on the hospital bed" Jay said, drawing Hope closer to himself and planting a peck on her cheek.
" wow nice, congrats man" they shook hands
"congratulations dear girl" Jane hugged Hope
"it's a happy ending after all"
They all turned back to see Clara standing at the door way, they all laughed.
Clem and Jane got married two months after their reconciliation, with Hope being the chief bride's maid because Clara got married a month before and was on her honeymoon, Jay and Hope's wedding took place a month after. Their friendship great stronger and stronger.

Clem drove madly into the hospital premises alerting the security and the nurses, he didn't give a damn because he was so scared his Hope will pass away. His car was surrounded with securities and nurses but immediately they noticed the cause of commotion, the nurses immediately rushed in to bring a stretcher, they lifted Hope from the car and laid her on the stretcher, they rushed her to the emergency ward, Clem followed suite.
"you can't come in at this point" one of the nurses told Clem and closed the door. He sat down on one of the chairs in the waiting room praying fervently for the quick recovery of Hope.

Jay has been worried about his friend, he had left the house early this morning in search of Hope and has not returned, he's not even picking his calls, has he found her yet? Jay thought, he carried his phone from the center table and tried Clem's number again if he would be lucky this time. It began to ring.
Clem picked at the third ring! Jay sat up and cleared his throat.
"where have you been man? not even a call to keep me posted, I've been worried" Jay complained bitterly into the phone.
"I'm sorry man" Clem said softly
"are you okay? You sound tired and worn out "
" I'm in the hospital "
Jay became shocked and stood up abruptly
" were you involved in an accident? are you sick? ! "
" no no its Hope"
"Hope? Where did you find her? "
" she was involved in an accident as at the time I found "
" my God! please text me the address I'll be there right away "
He dropped the call and rushed into his bedroom to change into something better and picked up his key from the table and rushed out.

Jay arrived at the hospital in a jiffy, he met Clem in the waiting room,
" are you alright man? "
" I'm fine Jay "
" has the doctor come out yet? "
He nodded his head in the negative
" I'm worried Jay, they've been in there for the past two hours " looking so worried
" calm down man, I'm sure they are trying their best in there"
" I just want Hope to be fine "

Both were deep in his own thought, they didn't notice the doctor come in,
Jay got up first then Clem followed
" how's she doctor? " they both asked together
"calm down young men, hmmmn"
The two men gazed at the doctor expectantly
" she lost so much blood, if she was not brought as at the time you brought her hmmmn we would have lost her, we were able to transfuse the blood we had in our blood bank because she is a universal acceptor"
"is she Fine now? " Clem asked impatiently
" she drifted in and out of coma, but we were able to stabilize her, she is fine now but needs a lot of rest, please"
" so we can't see her yet? " Jay asked disappointed
" I'm sorry" the doctor repled
Clem sighed and sat back,
" I'll advice you go home and freshen up and maybe before you come back she'll be awake, please young men, if you'll excuse me "
They both watched the doctor leave.
" I think I agree with the doctor " Jay said
" I can't leave her here alone " said Clem

Clem was quiet for a while before agreeing to leave the hospital on the condition that they won't spend more than an hour at home, Jay accepted and they both left the hospital.

Many will see what he has done as madness, leaving long time fiancé of seven years for a lady he met some months ago ON A RAINY NIGHT, Hope has refused to accept his proposal and asked him to go and settle things with Jane, he would have loved to, but the sparkle is no longer there, what he felt seven years ago for her has died immediately Hope stepped into his life, does she even know that? Only if she knows that she's his breathe, if only she knows that she is the center of his life. "hmmmmn" He sighed.

If only he knows what he's doing to her by that look of his, the way he looks at her sweeps her off her feet, his proposal immediately she was discharged from the hospital three months ago came as a shock, she never expected it, even though she feels something for him, she still has to be sensible, he belong to another and until they both come to an agreement she wouldn't know her fate, she has been avoiding him for the past months, his presence alone make her uncomfortable. "Hope! Please come" Clem called from the living room.

She heard him call again, she had no choice but to rush out into the living room, she was disappointed as well as relieved she didn't see Jane in the room.
" I'm here"
"oh ok" He looked up from the news paper he was reading
" it seems someone is at the door and I think its Jane, can you please go and open the door? "
Oh no, her tension has returned, "OK" she mumbled in audibly and went to open the door, she came face to face with Jane.
"erm... erm good... day" Hope stammered
"please excuse me " Jane pushed her side and went in,
" Clem what is she doing here, I thought she has gone and that's why you sent for me to settle things" she said as soon as she saw Clem.
Hope closed the door and was about going to her room
" Jane sit, Hope come and sit down"
Jane was surprised " Clem I thought this meeting is only between us?"
" remember she's part of this to, Hope sit down "
The two ladies sat opposite each other, Clem cleared his throat and began.
" Jane I'm so sorry for all the hurt and pain I made you go through especially about the wedding "
Jane was quiet feeling excited inwardly but looked hard on the outside. Clem continued
" I called you here today to settle things with you "
" not after all you did to me, u disgraced me on my wedding day, you disgraced my parents after all the preparations Clement, and you're here talking about settlement, what kind of settlement? "

After some minutes she said

Another day has broken again, Hope thought, she's not supposed to see another day, another of suffering, hunger and bitterness, she wished she could join her mother in the great beyond, she had thought of many ways to end her life but changed her mind since she doesn't want to go to hell, according to what they were taught in the teens class when she was a teenager.
She stood up and came out of the uncompleted building she had slept in last night. She carried her bag and continued with her journey, she didn't know where she was going, it's been two weeks since she was driven out of uncle Clem' house by his wicked fiance, she has been surviving on alms by the shop owners on the street, how long will she continue like this?
Still deep in thought she didn't know when she wandered into the road and got hitted by an oncoming vehicle, she lost consciousness in the arms of the last man she had expected to see.

****Chapter three****
Clem drove and packed in front of the gate, he tried opening the gate to drive in but found out it was securely locked from the inside, he knocked and knocked but there was no response, he dialed Jane's number and it went through.
"are you in the house? "
" yes, oh are you at the gate? "
" please come and open the gate for me? "
Dropped the call and entered back into his car, ready to drive. The gate was opened and he drove in and packed in front of the house. Jane closed the gate and went to greet him.
" welcome darl"
He nodded his response,
"why did you lock the gate? "
" oh erm... the gate, erm... I wanted sleeping and decided to be security conscious "
" hmmhuu? " He didn't totally believed her because he felt suspicious that there was something she was not telling him,
" ok" He walked in with Jane following closely.
He sat on the couch,
"I want to be left alone please"
"okay then, I'll be inside"
With that she went into the room, Clem was deep in thought going over what he and Jay had discussed in his house.
"Jay I'm tired of Jane's attitude "
" my man, you should know that she was never like this, something is prompting this so called attitude of hers"
"Hope needs help, and that is what I'm rendering her, I expect her to be by me"
"Clem, she is a stranger in that house no matter how you try to see it, it's only being natural of your fiance to object especially when your wedding is around the corner "
" do you now mean that Jane is scared of Hope taking over the house"

Softly Clem said" she has no where to go"

Back to the present, he realized he has been at home for close to twenty minutes now without seeing any sign of Hope. He called her, but there was no response, he called again but this time Jane answered and came out.

Unbelievably he shouted "what?!" that startled Jane
" what? She has overstayed her welcome and so I sent her packing"
"Jane how can you be this wicked? Where did you send her to? "
" I don't know, I only drove her out of the gate, that's all, I don't know where she went"
" Jane I now know the real you, now I want you to go to the room, pack whatever that belongs to you and leave my house, we are done"
She immediately went down on her knees
"you can't do this, our wedding is around the corner, please clement please forgive me, I'll go and look for her"
"I can't believe you're like this, You don't have a conscience neither do you have the heart of a woman, I thought you were different,"

" I'm sorry Jane, it's too late, before I return you're out of my house or else I will get you arrested, don't dare me" with that he drove out to look for Hope. With a heavy heart he drove and searched for her around town but could not find her.
"where could she be? "was what was ringing in his head as he drove around.
Evening came, still there was no sign of Hope anywhere as drove, he decided to go and rest at Jan's place. His gate man opened the gate and he drove into the compound." is your oga around? " He asked the gate man and he nodded in affirmative. He walked into the living room and met his friend watching the evening news from his TV set. He sat down lazily on the couch without saying anything, his friend looked at him and nodded," what is wrong? "
" she chased Hope out"
"what?! She has gone too far"

****Chapter two ****
Listening to the conversation going on in the next room, Hope came to the conclusion that she has no place in the house, but what would she do? Where would she go? Definitely not her father's house which has become hell to her since her mother died a year ago.
Deep in thought she decided to try her best to make Jane happy if that will secure her place in the house for the main time, sleep took over the rest of her thought.
The next morning, she woke up very early while the couple were still in bed, she cleaned the house, washed the dishes, made breakfast, ate hers and went back to her room.
Few minutes later, she heard her name very loud and clear from the living room, not mistaken, she knew who that call was from, leaving her Bible she was reading, she ran to the living room and stood in front of Jane.
Jane gave her a hot slap that made her fell to the ground. "are you stupid? How many times should I call you before you answer me?"
"I ran in as soon as I heard you calling ma" rubbing her side of the cheek and standing up.
"then you must be deaf"
"I'm sorry ma"
"shut up your mouth! Why are you still in your room at this time of the day?"
"I... I woke up early and... did my house chores, then... then I went in to pray"
"prayer" laughed sarcastically
"do you know what prayer is? and who told you, you're done with the house chores? Have you washed my clothes?"
She nods in the negative
" have you cleaned up my room? "

That was Clem, he had been at the dining area of the house, listening and watching what was going on. He stepped into the living room facing shocked Jane.

" not my wife! Therefore you have a limited right in this house, what has this girl done to you? She's helpless for christ sakes, I don't know you to be this wicked, what is wrong?"
" Clement I'm not wicked, you brought in a stranger from no where and you expect me to accept her just like that?"
"Hope you can go"
Hope left to her room
"Clement how dare you!" she was about slapping him when Clement held her hand in the air
"don't try this again" He said softly
Drags her hand down
"I can't live with that thwart in this house, that... that loafer"
"you have no right to call anybody names"
"just shut up! "
" I should shut up? In my house? "
Crying" you don't love me anymore"
"who is talking love here? It's too early for this, seriously and it's so unfortunate that today is Saturday, please let me have peace in my house."
"there is no peace for you in this house until you do the right thing"
"hmmmn, please excuse me"
He took his car keys and left the house in anger
"He who fight and run away lives to fight another day, if you like run away, you will return to this house"
"where is that bastard? Hope! Hope!! " going to the direction of Hope's room, she opened the door to her room suddenly which startled Hope.
" you're leaving my house today, this minute"
"please ma, I have no where to go" she was already in tears
"Hope or whatever your name is, your time in my house is up, so clean that crocodile tears of yours and pack up your things rather I will help you"
Few minutes later, Hope and her bag were out of the house, amidst Hope's begging, Jane pushed her out of the house and securely locked the gate.

"please stop the car, that's a lady figure under the rain at this ungodly hour" Clem motioned his friend.
" Clem please I don't want trouble, this might be a trap" Jay cautioned.
"if you don't stop this car I'll jump out" Clem threatened.
"what is wrong with you man? " He stopped suddenly.
Clem opened the door quickly and jump out into the rain while Jay waited for his friend in the car.
Clem approached the figure and found out that she has her head bowed and shivering vigorously from the cold.
Clem squatted in front of her.
"hello young lady"
There's no response
"hello" He repeated and touched her at the back this time.
She raised her head sniffing
Suprised Clem asked "what's a beautiful girl like you doing in the rain at this time?"
"please take me out of here" she said softly.
"oh OK, please forgive my manners, let's go" He lifted her up and they both went to the car. Clem opened the door for her and they entered and Jay zoomed off.
they both looked at the back seat and found out she was fast asleep.
"so what are you going to do? " Jay asked
" so it is now me alone abi? "
" guy you found her alone na" He said and laughed
"whatever, I'm taking her home"
"home? " He asked Suprised
" yes? Any problem with that? "
"what about Jane your fiancé? "
" she needs help Jay, where will she go? "
" OK I pray Jane understands "
Clem sighed and nodded.
That was a month ago, Hope turned out to be the name of the lady Clem helped, she was thrown out into the rain by her step mother for breaking a plte. She had no where to go and Clem had to make her stay in his house even though his fian[colo0000[/col[color=#990ane is seriously against it.
"it's been a month now that girl has been in this house, what's your plan, clement? " Jane bursted in the middle of the night.
Clem turned to his side facing her," please Jane I'm very tired and I need my sleep"
"as expected always avoiding any discussion concerning that good for nothing"
Angrily Clem sat up on the bed "can you please be reasonable? She has no where to go for christ sakes"
"and so? Is my house an orphanage home?" she beats him on his arm "I'm asking you?"
" oh God! It's late Jane and I want to sleep! " He said softly but fiercely
" you lie, there is no sleep for either of us tonight unless you do the right thing"
"what do you want? "
"our wedding is around the corner and the last thing I want is to have a stranger in my house"
"leave with it "He said, pick up a pillow and left the room.
" OK you're running away, none of us will have peace in this house until she leaves" Angrily she laid back on the bed.
