@barcanister, dunkem21; if this thread has been about recognising GEJ as an hero and committing him to be awarded a peace Nobel prize, I guess you would advise Lalasticlala and recommend it to be moved to front page, isn't it? |

Outgoing President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has told the embattled Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state to resign now or face the inevitable option of impeachment by the 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jonathan was said to have told Fayose that the time of impunity in Nigeria is over and that he (Jonathan) is committed to the rule of law. “As you can see, I am already packing my personal belongings out of the Villa, back to my Village, I cannot influence any process, we must allow the law to run its full course, we cannot continue to disrupt due process, that is not good for the country.” According to a source, Fayose (and the Ondo state Governor, Olusegun MImiko) were deliberately absent at the post election meeting held with Jonathan in Aso Rock because of the dismal performance of the PDP in the South West despite the last-minute huge investment and the promises that the zone will be delivered to the party. The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have begun moves that may lead to impeachment proceedings against Governor Ayodele Fayose. The factional Speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, had last week, forwarded a notice of gross misconduct to the governor, a copy of the notice was also sent to his deputy, Dr. Olusola Eleka. But Fayose in his characteristic manner said the APC lawmakers should stop acting like “jesters”, describing the purported impeachment notice as the “joke of the century.” According to him, the script being acted by the APC is a failed one because no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to test the will of the Ekiti people. In the letter by the 19 lawmakers titled, “Re: Notice of Allegations of Gross Misconduct,” sent to Fayose, the APC lawmakers listed eight impeachable offences against the governor. These offences bordered on impunity, brigandage, stalking and other constitutional breaches. These included alleged invasion of the House of Assembly with thugs and miscreants, instigating an unconstitutional takeover of the House by seven legislators to sit in contravention of Section 96(2) of the 1999 Constitution, and prevention of the 19 APC legislators from performing their duties with the use of security agents and armed thugs. Other allegations listed in the notice are: sponsoring an unlawful impeachment process in the house, spending Ekiti State funds without the requisite constitutional approval in contravention of the constitution and running the government without legally constituted Executive Council in contravention of Section 192(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They also accused the governor of operating an illegal 2014 budget as well as sponsoring and instigating illegal sitting of the House in contravention of Section 96(1) of the Constitution. It was also learnt that moves by the embattled Governor Fayose, who published some death-wish adverts against the candidacy of the President-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, to seek a truce with Buhari has hit brick walls. Fayose was said to have sent some emissaries through some traditional rulers in Ekiti state to help him appeal to Buhari for forgiveness, saying that his attacks on him were not personal but part of politicking. The Supreme Court has also reserved ruling till April 14 in the appeal find by the APC in Ekiti state challenging the emergence of Fayose as governor in the June 21, governorship polls, in which the PDP won in all the 16 local governments of the state. 11 CONSIDERATIONS FOR APRIL 11 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS IN LAGOS. 1. Fellow Lagosians : A lot of the elites and other common individuals are either brainwashed by the deceptive campaign of the outsted federal govt led party or politically naive. Pls educate them for the sake of the ordinary Lagosians. 2. How can we now at the Centre, having uprooted all the non performing and anti-people politicians at the center now replant them in Lagos. Remember they dont have access to the national cake in Abuja anymore, now is the time for them to now eat fat on Lagos treasuries at the expense of ordinary Lagosians. 3. If you do protest vote against APC in Lagos, ordinary Lagosians will suffer while APC key stakeholders/actors/stallwarts will still have access to greater largeess/money/influence/resources at the cenrer in their personal capacity. 4. One of the reasons why Lagos has not achieve her full potential is because Lagos has not always being together with the center in the last 16 years. Most of the licenses and collaborations needed fron the FG were denied by the PDP led FGN (4th mainland bridge, Independent Power Project that would have given light to Lagosians, Lekki sea port, Lekki Airport, Trans Lagos Light trail services among many others). 5. Whether we like Tinubu/APC/Fashola, etc. or not, they have created a strong opposition and they are the basis for the hope and great expectations that we have now at the center (They are the one that led the crusade of having a better Nigeria which has now brought in General Buhari and I'm sure things would change fir better). 6. Also, whether we like it or not, if Lagos is not the best performing state in Nigeria as of today, she would be among the first 3 best performing states, although we still acknowledged that they can do better. Is it now that we have achieved this change that we want to give up the crown jewel in the crown of this Nation. God forbid! 7. Imagine Obanikoro, Fani Kayode, Kashamu, Doyin Okupe, Fayose, Omisore, Bode George and their cohorts now start controlling and eating fat on Lagos (God forbid), ordinary Lagosians will be worst for it. Remember they said, where 2 elephants fight, the grassroot suffers. 7. If anyone is agrieved either by the doings or undoings of the APC govt/Stallwarts in Lagos, please let us forgive and make the best use of the opportunity that has now presented itself in the possible collaboration btw the APC led FG and the much desired APC continuity in Lagos. 8. This is the time to get the special status Lagos has always requested for from the FGN and it is only when we have same party both at the state and center that we can get it, and ordinary Lagosians will be better for it. We will not Labour in vain o in Jesus' name. 9. Please for God's sake and for the first time, let us vote continuity/APC and give the desired collaboration btw APC led Lagos and FG a chance and see if we ordinary Lagosians will be better for it If after the next 4 years and for the last time, we are not better, I promise that I will be one of the people that will lead the campaign of change in Lagos. 10. I'm not a politician but a concerned citizen of Lagos. If you desire a better life for yourself and other ordinary Lagosians, Pls rebroadcast to at least 10 people you know i could not have reached and let us educate other less privilege Lagosians who do not have access to this means of communication. 11. Lagos must not be Orubebelized, Eko o ni baje o. Long live Lagosians, Long live Nigerians. |

Idowuogbo:Without prejudice, I share your thoughts! The purpose of a fundraising is basically to treat a subject matter, once the subject matter is disposed of (whether healed, prefers to be left alone, adopts trado-medicals or passes on), the proper thing to do is to safe-keep the balance payments to treat the next subjects. Everyone has a need. Even the president of a nation has need! We should not be overwhelmed by the multitude of material needs and let medical needs suffer for it. Maybe TeHN also cater for other needs apart from medicals.... This step is necessary cos, another patient might have promised the parents heaven and earth or have been sponsoring his siblings in education, with the demise of such character, who adopts that responsibility? TeHN? If a document is prepared to cater for such incidences, sponsors and donors would be more assured of how excess and unspent funds are channeled!! It becomes law.. It would be guiding!! It becomes the standard!! Borrowing from the world of Financial Institutions - when a qualified customer is granted a loan, say to build a house or buy a highly priced equipment, such a disbursement is done in tranches, this guides against waste (diversion of unspent monies) and enables the bankers to be involved and monitor the project progress vis-a-vis the money spent. Bankers also guide against bad loans. All such monies are other customers money kept in their custody... Its one the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) recommendations. Hope you get my point sha.... |

Akshow:Optimism is not a bad idea afterall! |
This picture really depicts the very humble beginning of our democracy .... Not what we see powers and parties now doing! |
Every one believes and trusts that the nation would one day turn for good. Our leaders are the major concern. Once the leadership of right, followership would automatically fall into place. |
