The Senate on Thursday passed the Immigration Act 1963 (Repeal and Enactment) Bill 2015, and Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (Fiscal Incentives, Assurances and Guarantees) Bill 2015. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Abubakar Bagudu (APC-Kebbi Central), who took the lead debate, said the bill would help in supplementing the United Nations convention against transnational organisation crime. He added that the bill would help to tackle problems associated with passports, visas, resident permits, among others. “This bill sets out the provision for matters relating to immigration, passports, visas, resident permits and work permits. “It also sets out to smuggling of immigrants into and from Nigeria,” he said. The Automotive bill, sponsored by the Chairman Senate Committee on Investment, Sen. Esther Nenadi (PDP-Kaduna South), would reduce cost of importation of automobiles. It is meant to create an atmosphere conducive for stakeholders in the industry to fully take advantage of government incentives with a view to creating employment opportunities, among other things. In his remarks, the Deputy Senate President, who presided over plenary, said the passage of the bills would go a long way in solving some problems relating to immigration and automotive industry. He called for implementation of the bills, when signed into law with a view to repositioning the economy. “For us to be operating 1963 in 2015 in an area as sensitive as immigration is very worrisome. “I am sure we have saved ourselves of this embarrassment of outdated Act in the modern day Nigeria. “So, the passage of the Bill will help us to update the law relating to immigration in Nigeria in accordance with best practices. “I also congratulate you all for passing the Automotive Industry Bill, and I urge the committee to ensure that the Bill becomes fully operational so that we enjoy the benefits therein,” he said. I am sure that many people would have seen an advert (by way of signature) of one dude here on nairaland that claims he sells different data for networks. He claims 1gb data is N1000 While 2gb is N1900 3gb for N2900. Now the point is that I transferred N1900 in payment for 2gb MTN data yesterday and the guy just drops my call anytime I call his 0816 701 5961 to ask after my 2gb data. He pretends as if he doesn't know what am taking about. I cannot remember his moniker. I tried to quote his post but can't because he has deleted the initial post. Let everyone be aware of him... He is fake. A swindler. An OBT. A Thief!

He wants to open a new lease, giving as many people the grace to be the actual best they can be. He is forward looking and not backward-looking. If we don't forget errors of yesterday, we may neva find friend for today. |

Playing With Death Four Nigerian drug suspects who were nabbed by the NDLEA excreted a total of 171 wraps of cocaine in what is seen as one of the greatest drug burst. 24/7 Live - Subscribe to the Pulse Newsletter! Subscribe The drug suspects. The drug suspects. (Punch) Four drug suspects arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has jointly excreted a total of 171 wraps of cocaine in one of the largest heist the country has ever witnessed. The suspects whose names were given by the drug bursting agency are Ejiofor Eliezer, 46, Obah Fransic, 30, Sobuzochukwu Akpa, 27 and Ike Okechukwu, 36. They were apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, during the screening of passengers on board Qatar and Emirates airlines, while attempting to smuggle the drugs to Brazil. One of the suspects, Eliezer, excreted 100 wraps of the drug, and told the NDLEA investigators that he was paid a mere N200,000 to ingest the drugs, claiming that it was poverty that pushed him to commit the crime as he had intended using the proceed to fend for his family of four. "I live in Brazil where I work in a supermarket and live with my wife and four children. Life in Brazil is tough because I live from hand to mouth. It was poverty that made me to smuggle drugs. I took risk by swallowing 100 wraps of cocaine for N200,000 because of poverty." Francis, a bakery worker in the South American country, sai he decided to undertake the risky business to augment the meager salary he earns. "I am single and have been working in Brazil for two years. At present, I work in a bakery and my salary is meager. My plan was to give the drug to a friend in Dubai, but he did not come to collect the drug as planned. This was how I had to come to Nigeria with the drug. I blame my friend for my arrest because I would have made S15,000 (about N2.8m) from the deal." For Sobuzochukwu, an Accounting diploma holder, his poor salary as a cleaner forced him to swallow 26 wraps of cocaine for a fee of $1,500 (about N285,000). Okechukwu thought he would beat the drug agency but was unlucky when he was caught and he also excreted the five wraps of cocaine he ingested. "I regret my involvement in drug trafficking. I dropped out of school in Junior Secondary School class two and I work in a toy company in Brazil." The NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said Brazil-Nigeria route was a high risk path to drug trafficking and urged officers to be vigilant. "The suspects will soon be charged to court." http://pulse.ng/gist/playing-with-death-4-drug-traffickers-excrete-171-wraps-of-cocaine-id3655727.html?utm_campaign=daily-2015-04-18&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_content=playing-with-death-4-drug-traffickers-excrete-171-wraps-of-cocaine

In a great turn of events, the three missing Orekoya boys who were kidnapped by a maid about a week ago have been returned home. As announced by their mother, Adebisi Busayo Orekoya on her Facebook wall, the kids have been found. However, she did not clarify if the ransom money was paid or not. Read her post below: “We give God all the Glory. Our Orekoya missing Kids have been found.Thank you so much everyone for ur prayers and moral and Financial support all along. The list is endless, of awesome mothers, sisters, business partners, father’s and even kids too. You’ve been amazing! May God grant all your heart desires too. Much love always.” If we recall, the maid who kidnapped the boys responded to a notice put up by the parents on OLX, looking for a maid. The case is similar to another that occurred in December 2014 where another maid hired via same means abducted her bosses’ two children. Both cases have caused raised eyebrows, with people questioning if transactions via OLX should be trusted. It should be noted that OLX is an online classified site that brings buyers and sellers together to promote trade. In reaction to the unfortunate incidence, here was an official statement from OLX country manager, Lola Masha which came before the kids were found: This is an unfortunate situation and our sympathies go out to the victim and their family. OLX is an online classifieds site that brings buyers and sellers together to promote trade. We take steps to moderate and review all ads but we do not participate in the negotiations between buyers and sellers. Transactions are performed directly between both parties. In all our marketing campaign, we continuously urge our users to take necessary precautionary checks when using OLX. We continue to innovate and improve our review process with tighter measures that would help to minimize future occurrence of negative incidents. We also need our users to help us kick out bad players and ask them to report any dubious activity or user on the site for immediate action. Our customer support team can be reached at 0700-CALL-OLX (0700-22-55-659) or at support-ng@olx.com. We sincerely hope that the 3 kids are returned safely to their loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we will provide all help within our capacity to facilitate the quick reunion of the 3 children with their family. The Presidency on Monday said there was no truth in an information being circulated on the social media that President Goodluck Jonathan budgeted N3bn for members of the transition committee he set up. The committee chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a smooth transition from Jonathan to the President-elect, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). A social media message that went viral on Monday claimed that during a meeting between the President and the President-elect, Jonathan had said N3bn would be spent on his transition committee while Buhari was reported to have said that members of his own committee were volunteers who won’t be paid. But Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, in an interview said no such meeting or conversation took place. Abati described the message as pure fiction or blackmail that can only emanate from a charlatan. “This is pure fiction and blackmail. No such meeting or conversation ever took place. Whoever wrote the copy obviously has never heard of being magnanimous in victory. A charlatan certainly,” the presidential spokesman said. http://rotorconcepts.co.uk/we-didnt-budget-n3bn-for-transition-committee-presidency/
