Okay what is the meaning of RIBA is interest Do you even know what you are saying. Check the meaning of RIBA in arabic language[/quote] |
Many Nigerians keep their money in a savings account and think they are doing the right thing. But there is something most Muslim Nigerians do not know. That interest your bank pays you every month? It is called RIBA — and Allah has strictly forbidden it. Allah says in the Qur'an 2:275: "Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (interest) WHAT IS RIBA IN SIMPLE TERMS? Riba = money that grows just because time passed. Not from real work. Not from real trade. Just from lending or depositing. Example: You put N100,000 in savings. Bank gives you N5,000 after one year. That N5,000 = RIBA. You did no work, no trade, no real business risk. Every conventional Nigerian bank operates on Riba: - Savings account interest = RIBA - Fixed deposit returns = RIBA - Bank loans charged at 20-30% = RIBA THE HALAL ALTERNATIVE Allah permitted TRADE — buying and selling, owning a business. That is exactly what halal stock investing is: - You buy a share of Dangote Cement or Jaiz Bank - The company does real business and grows - Your share grows because the business grew - Zero interest. Zero Riba. 100% Halal. On NGX (Nigerian Stock Exchange), there is a special halal section called the LOTUS ISLAMIC INDEX — companies screened by Islamic scholars. Zero Riba. Verified. Results: - JAIZBANK: +182% - DANGSUGAR: +41% Vs your bank savings: 4-8% per year (Riba) while inflation eats 15% of your money. Did you know your savings account interest was Riba? Let’s talk about something simple… but powerful today What exactly is NGX? Think about Balogun Market in Lagos or Wuse Market in Abuja. That’s where people go to buy rice, clothes, electronics… normal things. Now imagine a market like that… But instead of buying goods, you are buying ownership in companies. That is what NGX (Nigerian Exchange Group) is. You can literally own a small part of companies like: 1.Dangote Cement 2.MTN Nigeria 3.Jaiz Bank Let that sink in for a second. You… owning a piece of big companies. And when those companies grow, your money can grow too. But wait… is it safe? This is where SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) comes in. Think of SEC like NAFDAC… but for investments. Their job is to: 1.Monitor the market 2.Prevent fraud 3.Ensure companies are legit 4.Protect investors like you and me . So no… this is not MMM. This is not bring 10k, get 50k tomorrow. This is a real, regulated system that has been running for decades. Now the big question… is it halal? Yes… if you do it the right way. There is something called the Lotus Islamic Index. These are stocks that have been screened to meet Islamic standards: 1.No interest (riba) 2.No haram business 3.Proper financial screening So you don’t need to run away from investing. You just need knowledge. So Abdulbasit How much do you need to start? Let’s be honest… Some people spend ₦1000 on food without thinking twice. That same ₦1000 can be your starting point in the stock market. Not big. Not flashy. But it’s a start. Let me ask you… Before today, did you know you could own shares in Nigerian companies like this?
