Dearest gentle colleagues, It’s been a minute. As the Assessment Centre exercise kicks off at Abuja today, I wish us all the very best. The most important advice I’ve got for you is to just be yourself (that’s the mantra you’ll be preaching very soon don’t worry 😂). But really, no pressure, NLNG or not, we’ll surely be alright. P.S: eat enough o, whether tea break or lunch, they don’t assess your eating portions. |
Hey guys, I’ve been staring at the email to be sure it’s for me, cause I really can’t believe it (seeing that I was skeptical about my performance) and since I got it I’ve been praying that they don’t send another email asking me to ignore the success mail.😂 Anyway, I want to talk about how the test (2nd level assessment) went for me. I started with the JFA as usual and I based my answers on the core values of NLNG which forms an acronym known as SITREC - Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, and Caring. I ensured that all the options I chose were part of the core values, however, I also ensured that safety was always my priority even though other options may demonstrate other core values, don’t know if that did any good but that’s just what I did. For the numerical, I remember I confidently solved just three (all pie charts) accurately, and then I started having issues with a question about ranking which person made the highest sales ratio (I obviously bleeped it after wasting so much time thinking of what to do), the next question was about plotting a graph for the highest percentage increase across a couple of years, I did mental maths to plot the graph (which I wasn’t so sure of the accuracy), after that I got another pie chart question, but I had less than 2 minutes remaining and it was the 6th question, so I quickly solved that (not sure I did it accurately though) and then within the remaining seconds I just scrambled through question 7, by the time question 8 was displaying, my time was up, so I literally didn’t answer questions 8,9&10, with questions 4,5,6&7 being uncertain, and whenever I remembered that marks would be deducted for unanswered questions I just lose hope entirely. I’d say I answered only 3 correctly, cause the other two (questions 5&6) I did with my head were based on vibes and Insha Allah. For the inductive reasoning, that’s literally my forte (although I used to be better with numerical) but I was putting my hope on the inductive reasoning section. Luckily for me out of the 15 questions I was confident about 14 being correct, the other one I skipped it cause I didn’t want to waste time since I was just starting the section and wouldn’t want a repeat of the numerical experience. So yeah, that’s literally how I did, if you ask me, I’d say it’s Allah that brought me this far cause I see lots of intelligent folks here who deserved this, nevertheless, I believe what will be will be, for everyone. |
Conversations20:I’ve not filled mine yet Still trying to bask in the joy of this progression, I’ve been crying.😭 |
Alhamdulillah Second time is hopefully my charm See y’all at the top. I got the email |
airsaylongcome:Thanks for your concerns, really appreciate it. Yes, I thought of the whole identification issue, seeing that the whole essence of Nairaland was to maintain anonymity, so I put in those measures (as a magician would say, misdirection) so I’m not scared of my identity being revealed. However, I think I’ll follow your advice about the emailing, thanks once again. |

faceoftheweb:Absolutely, same thing happened to me during my NNPCL interview, I was busy introducing myself with the “tell us about yourself” question and they were all smiling, towards the end of my speech I started stuttering and it drifted my mind off what I was saying and I kept on thinking if I had messed up and it made me stutter more, when I was done they asked me if I needed water and I lost my voice to respond yes, the yes that came out of my mouth was quieter than that of a toddler that has just been spanked. So I understand that feeling and I can say it’s true cause it also happened to me during my group discussion at the AC, I “zoned” out completely, like, I was just sitting there and no one called my attention, funny experience 😂 I knew there are other folks with similar testimonies, and when you get to find out you’d realize that they know so much about NLNG, but the fear of failing takes a hold of them and somehow it affects their performance. After the process I was collecting feedback from some of the successful folks on LinkedIn so I can learn and improve myself, one from KPMG mentioned that he didn’t even know the company and he just wanted to do it for fun, cause he liked what he was doing at the time, he only made research about the AC exercises a day or two to his own AC just to know what the stage entailed, but then he got in. That’s why in this process, I’m just going with vibes and Insha Allah, no too much seriousness make I no go think on AC day forget myself again.😂💔 |
NLNGguyman:Email for filling of forms came in on the 5th of April 2023 Email for candidate invitation to AC came in on the 14th of April 2023 Assessment center exercises kicked off around 1st-3rd of May 2023 starting with the Abuja guys, can’t remember the exact date. Assessment centre exercises were concluded on the 16th of June 2023 In PhC. Offer letter came in on the 19th of July 2023. Don’t know when the rest of the correspondence (PEME, Reference verification and all that) came in, only those who got in can say, but they resumed somewhere around 4th of September at LBS. |
Tradexreel:Hello bro, please confirm receipt when you get it. Apologies for the delay once again. Wishing you success. |
Jimmy17:Your discharge certificate is a requirement at the AC, didn’t hear of anyone who went without it, although I think you could also take your call-up letter (what I applied with in 2022) if you’re not done, but I’m certain they won’t offer you employment without NYSC discharge certificate. Although sha, one of my guys didn’t make it to the AC, when asked, he got a feedback that they’d be done before he finished serving (which was around November 2023) they resumed September. He said he was sure he passed the assessment, so he probed further and got that feedback. |
Ellaposh:During the 1st level assessment for this campaign, there were some leaks on X(Twitter) I said I wasn’t going to write my test until I had memorized every question, and I did, luckily I got about 8/9 repeat for me, my last question was super easy, I had over 4 minutes remaining, so I just sat there waiting for the time to finish running before hitting submit, after submitting, I realized I got that last question wrong, I was super furious with myself.😂 Anyway, what I’m driving at is that at this point, I’ll study any and everything on that MAP, I’d have restricted it to only exercises we did the last time, but seeing how the company is moving this time around, nah, I’m not gon give them any chance to hit me with the element of surprise. However, I’ll pay more attention to the exercises for Level 1 and graduates (Level 2) rather than other levels. |
Stargurl20:Not really, you just have to be eligible, given the campaign requirements. At the advertisement of the last, I was 6 months into service (NYSC) and I was 22 at the time, I didn’t apply until after the career fair when they mentioned that those still serving can apply but they should’ve finished before the end of the process, I finished service a week to my AC or so, hence I’m eligible to apply for this as I’ve got an NYSC not earlier than 2021 and I’m 25, not that age is a requirement sha, but yeah, that’s it. I’ll drop my experience when there’s feedback for the next stage, so I can either vomit all information (if I don’t make it) or withhold certain details to maintain a competitive edge (if I make it), I hope you understand that though, information is power.🙃 |
Tradexreel:I can mail it to you man |
airsaylongcome:Yeah it does, I didn’t even know of it’s existence the last time, I see now why some persons were talking about the AC materials getting leaked and all that. A girl in my group was dropping suggestions like she had read the documents already, during the group discussion I kept on thinking how she knew what to say when we obviously didn’t finish reading the issues, I suspected she had connections, but now that I’m reflecting, I think she studied the MAP seriously, and yes, she got in. I’ve learnt a lot since then sha, so I’m super positive about this trial, but of course, knowing that life happens, and as someone would say, time and chance. |
Jobbernath:Exactly this minute, 11:41AM, 3 years ago today, I was celebrating my progression to the NLNG GT recruitment AC, it meant a lot to me back then, wonderful feeling when you know you’re just one step closer to your dream. Hopefully I make it again this time around, can’t wait to have my sweet revenge, Insha Allah. Happy Easter Celebration to all our Christian colleagues.

Trojan8:Nah bro, don’t engage, just ignore whatever he posts, that’s the way to go. |
faceoftheweb:Speaking of which, why Seplat GTs dey follow us drag this one?😭 I can understand NNPC-L, Aradel and Oando, but Seplat? |
Abduleeda1:@airsay I was the one asking, cause you for join to be my mentor 🤲🏾🥲 |
airsaylongcome:Indeed, I think everyone who reads that thread would take a natural liking to Kuwena. First time I was reading it I was just praying he got in, nevertheless, life happens and I’m happy for him regardless. I was even trying to know who he was in real life cause I needed to connect with such a legend. |
vahonohai:Yes, I realized that. I’ve always searched for records of previous processes before 2007 but nothing seems to pop-up. Thanks for your wishes, it’s my second trial so I’m basically doing it on vibes and Insha Allah, if it comes it comes, if it doesn’t, of course life moves on as usual. |
horlatayorr:lol, you see me talk to am? When e yap e gibberish finish him go carry him useless 1K AI book go sell for nursery school children. |
May 26th should be the day we receive our offer letters if we’re to follow the same number of days between application deadline and receipt of offer letter for the 22/23 set, because that process lasted for 239 days (22nd November 2022 - 19th July 2023). We’re currently 186 days into this campaign, on the 186th day they were already done with the AC for the Abuja folks and were doing that of Lagos. Overthinking wan kee son of man… |
airsaylongcome:Yeah, I totally get. My friend mentioned that he can’t even go from the office to the airport without an escort when he’s on a business trip, and I just went 🤐 Anyway, now reflecting on it, why are y’all running away from supply chain? Two people I knew (intended to make them mentors cause I’m also interested in SCM) left already, one went to LNG Canada, the other one went to UN, come be like say supply chain nai dey get the most resignations.😂 |
airsaylongcome:Very understandable. I see people on X(Twitter) who are so loud about their candidacy in the NLNG process, I just dey laugh cause I’m sure if they get in, their engagements on X will reduce drastically, and if it doesn’t, they’ll rarely say or post anything about them working for NLNG. I know of a lady who got in the last time, was a social media socialite, was always posting stuff, even pictures of her during training school and all that, I noticed suddenly she rarely posted anything again, recently e come be like say she don go incognito. One other guy, he blurs out anything that has to do with the company logo, in his pictures you’ll only see his face, the others who are captured won’t even be clear. I come dey wonder, I don’t know if there’s an OT (orientation) for that during the onboarding or if it comes naturally when you join the company. |
airsaylongcome:Wow, just wow, I think I can relate to the feeling of “that’s it?”, anyway, can’t wait to experience it for NLNG 😁 And it’s nice to know that you feel happier doing what you do currently. |
airsaylongcome:Oh okay, I always thought he left in 2016 and you guys resumed in September 2017. Also, I’ve been curious to ask, when you were leaving NLNG, what was on your mind? I’m thinking you’d be like “See me leaving this company I almost wanted to give anything just to get in” 😂 I sha wish you’ll tell us the story around the time you left, don’t know if you’ve mentioned it before though. |
Mark05:I think NLNG has gone past that. The CEO for the 2013 set was 2 years into his tenure when they advertised the vacancy, and left a year to their resumption, so I’m not sure that the change in leadership had a negative impact to the process, if at all, I feel the new CEO would’ve been the one to ensure that the recruitment was completed against all odds. So going by that, the emergence of this new commander 😂 should give a beacon of hope to the swift completion of the process, my thoughts though. |
Deji1960:The position is on a tenure basis, MD/CEO must be a Nigerian from Shell, and tenure spans 5 years, DMD from NNPC-L, not sure of the number of years for that. So when your tenure as the CEO ends you’ll go, whether you like it or not, whether you’re ready or not. |
Ellaposh:Nah, that was the exact day they sent the form. |
Dear colleagues, to keep the thread alive/engaging while we wait for feedback and progress to the AC, I suggest we share what we would like to do (work and maybe personal stuff) in the first year of being a GT @NLNG if successful. For me, I would like to emerge as the best GT in the training school (if there’s something like that), I studied Economics so I would like to be posted to any Finance or treasury-related departments where I can be close to the money😁or maybe any Business Department to contribute to the marketing and sales of our products, and development of innovative business ideas for our organization. I would like to take a vacation to Saudi Arabia, see a football match, and participate actively in supporting families during Ramadan and other festive times. Veeveeed Imaginaaation 🤣 Ya Allah don Allah ka bar nufinka ya cika |
JosDC44:Thank you so much |
JosDC44:I’m quite skeptical about dropping my contact here, for privacy concerns, please send a mail to abduleeda1@gmail.com so I can forward my contact to you. I hope you understand, thank you so much. |
