Any reason y u wan partition the pond

Its associated with the challenge of sorting that i experienced. I have a 66ft pond which will undergo repairs soon.... trying to see if i can split it into 3 to aid my sorting process.

I greet everyone.... pls i am looking for where i can find plastic mesh in Nigeria... I have been calling a few plastic companies with no luck. If it is possible to get variant mesh sizes of 1/2", 3/4"and 1" with associated prices it would be really appreciated.

Referrals, contacts, anything on how to get it. I want to see if i can use it to partition my ponds...

On average seeing 0.8kg - 1.2kg... though the harvest is still ongoing... Sorting was a bit of a challenge cos of the 2 faulty ponds i have. In addition, i had some hitches during the culture period... feed availability and water quality management issues that i am to address in the next run.

Currently, I have 6 ponds. Only 4 are operational... put in a shy above 10k juveniles in each...

@hisableplc...Yea... 35,000kg (its an approximate number) actually commenced with 42,000 juveniles... trying to be conservative about the outcome and accommodate variation in fish sizes.

End of day 2... sold 645kg...

Hello all, hope the farms are coming along fine... Sorry to hear about the loss... I Pray you get better outcome in the subsequent run.... As an update, I started selling my fish today.... Sold 291kg.... (367 fish) on average they are about. 0.8kg. On month 5..... Don't want to wait no more.....

Hey everyone, seeing the good work going on here. @robonski, fhemmy,mercylicious, (cant mention everyone).... been away for a while trying to sort out some water supply challenges and working on setting up a hatchery..... My fish stock will be ready by approx 1-2nd week of May, 2015. I am seeking interested whole sale purchasers; approximately, i should have about 35 tonnes of catfish available for sale... Hello Abdulumar,the earthen pond floor in the picture,is it cemented or is it ordinary sand? because i noticed that d walls are cemented with different colours of hard core.pls explain a little about the pond.Thanks a million.

@ewasnsr, just as observed by Fhemmy, its an in-ground concrete pond. The walls were made with rocks in them owing to the terrain. The bottom is concrete. It was re-laid because of leakages.... as for draining the water, we use a water pump majorly. @mercylicious... swimming with the fishes even without tiling is a good sport... its 20m by 9m

@mercylicious: Noted with thanks. I called the first company over the weekend and have gotten information on their prices.... I will call the second to compare as you have advised. I was astonished when he was telling me prices that are less than half of what is being sold within my proximity. Thanks once again....

my neighbour saw d wire guaze i used to cover my pond and advised i remove it cos d rusts contaminates water. He breeds catfish in his village, though on a small scale - abt 400 pieces.

I went to d mkt to buy fishing net and was confused cos the had 3/4 inch, 1, 2,11/4 and 11/2 inch. Please which is ideal to prevent predators and as well allow feed pass?
They also asked ii wanted ply 9 or ply 6?

I only needed few yards to cover my geepee pond bt couldnt get as the retailers have closed by the time i got to the mkt. It was past 5pm

Hey this is interesting..... Up north them wan kill us with price.... I was told a bundle of fishing net ply 9 and mesh size 3/4' goes for as much as 70,000.

Mercylicious... seems like we may consider some possibilities pretty soon. The prices you are presenting is too good to be true.

Still in discussions with the community around the area.... I have not stocked the cage yet. Hope to do that once I get at least 1 or 2 community members engaged to oversee the feeding in my absence. I intend to increase the number & size of cages as well.

Good day All, I spent the last 2 days browsing through comments and discussions by the group and i must say that i am impressed with the amount of knowledge sharing here. I am no expert in this field... though i commenced a fish culturing project in december... (looking to harvest in May). So far, i adopted many of the advises posted here. Working with a consultant, ensuring security, availability of feed, spacing, etc. I am currently contemplating on establishing a hatchery and embark on cage culturing. Interestingly, i have successfully designed and built a floating cage... put it in water for the last 3 days and its still afloat lol.... While i am not a culturing expert, I understand Business Development and the rudiments. So far i have recorded 20 mortality (well apart from those that have fed on each other and cant be accounted for).

Will be looking to share ideas and strengthen my knowledge and help others too.....
