In 1995, I lost my mother, Janet Akintuyi and since then, I have made it a point to preserve her memories in different ways. You may not have lost a mother, or a father, or a grandfather or a grandmother. But there's no denying that at some point, some of us have departed loved ones which we wouldn't want their memories to be forgotten. The challenge is where to go without costing a fortune. If you want to take a page in the newspaper, it might cost anything from N150,000 to N300,000. Yet, I am sure those who have lost a loved one really wants to showcase their lives and times. After the 20th year of my mother's death, I started looking for ways to immortalize her. I wanted a place that is affordable, easy to read and easy to share with friends and family. This I did with www.liveonmemories.com.ng. Since it started, the site has become an archive of memories of loved ones ranging from celebrities, politicians, movers and shakers of this world and everyday people. I am excited to see people write positive things about their loved ones and also share the link with friends and families. Now I know that with www.liveonmemories.com.ng, my mother will never be forgotten and many people who don't know her can read about how she was such a wonderful person worth knowing even in death. One good thing about the computerised vehicle inspection is that it is a leveller. Everyone wants to feel safe in their vehicles. So everyone has the obligation to ensure that it works. Reference: |
ghostridder:If we think this way, there will be no room to improve. I can personally share experiences I have gathered of "poor" people being victims of their own choices. A man decides to drive his car knowing fully well the brakes are bad, who should be blamed if he ends up injuring someone on the highway? This is not about rules for the rich or the poor. The roads are shared by all irrespective of social class strata. I think the best way to go about this is to make sure that we don't err on the wrong side, especially where lives and properties are concerned. Afterall, when the vehicle is inspected, you will know if there are faults with the vehicles. At that point, it's not about the rich, it is about you and other road users safety. |
adanny01:At every Lagos State computerised vehicle inspection service centre, a vehicle is checked for emission, lights, alignment, suspension, brakes efficiency and underneath inspection to check the axles, chassis and chassis attachments. All these is to ascertain the condition of the vehicle. And this is for every vehicle that comes in to the centre. Don't also forget that some people might resist change but at the end, when they see the benefits, they"ll eventually accept it. |
pussyeater:Let's change the focus to another way to save lives and properties. At the end, that is what it does. |
bayulll011:I agree that we need to to live long and the Governor has been proactive and shown enough support to make sure that can be achieved. Let's applaud his commitment and support it as good citizens of the state to make the system work. |
Dee60:At the last count, it was discovered that many vehicles failed because of light defects. This has nothing to do with roads. This is why we encourage every one to be more proactive in imbibing safety rules and little things like ensuring your vehicle lighting system is in order might be the lifesaver to prevent accidents on the roads. |
Reference:The Lagos State Government is committed to the safety of its citizens. If everyone is committed to vehicle safety, there will be less carnage on the roads and lesser griefs caused by defective vehicles on the highway. It is our responsibility to support the government to help reduce breakdowns, accidents and fatalities on the highways. |
EZENDIZUOGU:The new procedure entails you get a referral letter that directs you to the inspection centres. If you were not given, request for it and get your vehicles inspected as it inclusive of the fees you've paid. |
adanny01:Minna and Anambra also have the computerised test centres. |
