FamilyPay Loving Tributes To Your Departed Loved Ones With Liveonmememories by abikerichard(op):
In 1995, I lost my mother, Janet Akintuyi and since then, I have made it a point to preserve her memories in different ways.

You may not have lost a mother, or a father, or a grandfather or a grandmother.

But there's no denying that at some point, some of us have departed loved ones which we wouldn't want their memories to be forgotten.

The challenge is where to go without costing a fortune.

If you want to take a page in the newspaper, it might cost anything from N150,000 to N300,000.

Yet, I am sure those who have lost a loved one really wants to showcase their lives and times.

After the 20th year of my mother's death, I started looking for ways to immortalize her. I wanted a place that is affordable, easy to read and easy to share with friends and family.

This I did with www.liveonmemories.com.ng.

Since it started, the site has become an archive of memories of loved ones ranging from celebrities, politicians, movers and shakers of this world and everyday people.

I am excited to see people write positive things about their loved ones and also share the link with friends and families.

Now I know that with www.liveonmemories.com.ng, my mother will never be forgotten and many people who don't know her can read about how she was such a wonderful person worth knowing even in death.

One good thing about the computerised vehicle inspection is that it is a leveller. Everyone wants to feel safe in their vehicles. So everyone has the obligation to ensure that it works.

Reference:
Everyone who makes laws say the same thing. And I agree, you cannot have a progressive society without proactive laws. That is why we advocate for the decoupling of instruments of state. My grouse is the hypocrisy with which it is being done. No one rolled out tanks when Lagos decided it needed new Local Government Councils. The law operated and Federal might prevailed. Instead they were called Local Government Authorities. Today states including Lagos have all sorts of laws and edicts tjat run contrary to the Federal Republic but no one says they are wrong. No one is in detention because of that. Why pretend about what is obvious. That this country needs restructuring. Why seek to hold others back when you do almost the exact thing through the backdoor or creep tjrough the window.

If I drive my car to Lagos what guarantees does the mighty Federal Government give me that it will not be impounded because I donot pay taxes to Lagos state (by proxy)

Itz always very annoying to see aw govt, most Xpecially in Nigeria get rich quick at d xpense of the poor masses... Dy wil jst sit and com up wit one useless law, or any stupid idea jst to colour d poor n suffering masses.Dy are always finking of how to mk d poor bcom poorer, while dy grow richer.. Av nva seen a country as useless as diz.. What is d meaning of road worthiness cert..? Nonsense... !
If we think this way, there will be no room to improve. I can personally share experiences I have gathered of "poor" people being victims of their own choices. A man decides to drive his car knowing fully well the brakes are bad, who should be blamed if he ends up injuring someone on the highway? This is not about rules for the rich or the poor. The roads are shared by all irrespective of social class strata.

I think the best way to go about this is to make sure that we don't err on the wrong side, especially where lives and properties are concerned. Afterall, when the vehicle is inspected, you will know if there are faults with the vehicles. At that point, it's not about the rich, it is about you and other road users safety.

I can assure you that the "Honda menace" you claim wont stop until fake parts stop coming from China.

The testing facilities are to test majorly for emissions and safety. Its unlike in the US when you have a check engine light, its an automatic fail. We dont have such strong laws.

They check tires, tire pressure, spare tire, jack, wiper blades, rear view mirrors, windscreen, lighting, illegal modification of the car etc. Road safety are already doing all that. This is just duplication of duties or at best transfer of duties.

Those rickety vehicles that carry fire wood, charcoal, market women never have documentation and would never be bothered. It is the private car owner that FRSC concern themselves with. I know that VIO do trouble some taxis and buses but still dont do a perfect job.
At every Lagos State computerised vehicle inspection service centre, a vehicle is checked for emission, lights, alignment, suspension, brakes efficiency and underneath inspection to check the axles, chassis and chassis attachments. All these is to ascertain the condition of the vehicle.
And this is for every vehicle that comes in to the centre. Don't also forget that some people might resist change but at the end, when they see the benefits, they"ll eventually accept it.

Another way to embezzle undecided
Let's change the focus to another way to save lives and properties. At the end, that is what it does.

stop whining and make a meaningful contributions.

what you should say is the certificate in Lagos should be accepted in ogun state.

this will reduce all those unfortunate roads that is shorting our life span in lagos.

my problem is the weak and slow governor that is sole aim is to win the next elections.
I agree that we need to to live long and the Governor has been proactive and shown enough support to make sure that can be achieved. Let's applaud his commitment and support it as good citizens of the state to make the system work.

Unworthy roads, number 1 cause of unworthy cars!
At the last count, it was discovered that many vehicles failed because of light defects. This has nothing to do with roads. This is why we encourage every one to be more proactive in imbibing safety rules and little things like ensuring your vehicle lighting system is in order might be the lifesaver to prevent accidents on the roads.

So is Lagos not creating another country by default. Is this not a secessionist move. Can it enforce this, impound vehicles from other states and perhaos arrest its owners who violate (its laws). What is the Joint Tax Board saying about this.

We say no to state police but have the Hisbah operating in some northern states and all manner of paramilitary organisations all around Nigeria with real powers to apprehend, disrupt and even incarcerate Nigerians.

We say we are a non religious, circular democracy but we have sharia laws they say are for adherents to the faith.

When we say restructure so that these things can be understood, negotiated, mutually accepted and made lawful. But the hypocrisy in us will not allow that simply because we want Nigeria laws to hold others back while we need our own laws to forge ahead. We want to have our cake and eat it. We need the security of Nigeria but not the responsibility towards our fellow men.

These are the fault lines of injustice that cause unnecessary turbulence in this country, that makes this entity called a nation unworkable and we will continue to burn resources and shed blood needlessly from time to time to keep it from imploding.
The Lagos State Government is committed to the safety of its citizens. If everyone is committed to vehicle safety, there will be less carnage on the roads and lesser griefs caused by defective vehicles on the highway. It is our responsibility to support the government to help reduce breakdowns, accidents and fatalities on the highways.

But i did my renewal last week Thursday but was never given this new one, even though it was done at their office at Adeniji. i only got the old one( hand written) and the receipt from ministry of transport plus sticker.
The new procedure entails you get a referral letter that directs you to the inspection centres. If you were not given, request for it and get your vehicles inspected as it inclusive of the fees you've paid.

Only Lagos and FCT has the testing facility. Other state road worthiness is still legally accepted even without computerised testing. The difference is in amount charged.

In Kaduna, we pay ₦500 for testing. In Abuja, its like ₦2,500 but the actual certificate is ₦1,500 every where in Nigeria. The Abuja has one more thing i cant remember but its like ₦1000plus.
Minna and Anambra also have the computerised test centres.
