Osun 2026: Are We Satisfied With The Direction Of The State?

As the next election approaches, Osun citizens should honestly assess the current administration's performance.

Many residents continue to raise concerns about the state of public schools, poor infrastructure in several communities, and what they see as slow development in both rural and urban areas. Questions have also been raised about the welfare of workers and pensioners, with critics arguing that more attention should be given to salaries, pensions, and economic opportunities.

At the same time, the governor has gained significant visibility on social media, particularly through videos of public appearances and dancing. While supporters see this as a way of connecting with the people, others believe governance should be judged primarily by measurable improvements in education, roads, healthcare, jobs, and living standards.

As voters, we should ask:
1. Have our schools improved enough?
2. Are our roads and public infrastructure meeting expectations?
3. Are workers and pensioners receiving the support they deserve?
5. Has development reached communities across the state?

The future of Osun should be decided based on performance, accountability, and results.

What are your thoughts?

PoliticsRe: Pensioners Rejects Mobilisation Endorsement For Adeleke's Second Term Bid by Abioduntaofeek: 2:43pm On Jun 05
Osazeidehen:
Retirees under the aegis of Osun State Independent Unbonded Contributory Pensioners, on Tuesday rejected mobilisation by pensioner leadership to endorse Governor Ademola Adeleke for second term in office ahead of August 15th 2026 guber election.

The group insisted that the government should prioritise the payment of outstanding pension bonds and salary arrears owed.

A statement signed by the State Coordinator of the group, Mr. Awodele Olusola, warned pensioners against participating in a planned gathering in Osogbo on Wednesday, which he claimed was being organised to create the impression of support for Governor Adeleke's re-election.

He held that state government neglected the pensioners' welfare, yet busy seeking political support despite improvements in the state's financial fortunes.

According to him, "The Ademola Adeleke administration is saying that they do not owe pensioners in the state, but one of their agents is asking us to come out to protest on Wednesday over the unpaid pension bond."

He further lamented the non-payment of pension obligations, saying, "The last time a pension bond was paid was in 2021 during the time of Gboyega Oyetola. Since then, all we have seen are promises and promises; nothing has been paid."

Describing the plight of retirees, Abiodun said, "Our pensioners are suffering; there is no money for food, drugs, or anything."

He questioned the government's commitment to addressing pensioners' concerns, stating, "If this administration cannot pay our arrears in four years, what is the assurance that they would do so in another four years?"
A government that cannot guarantee the welfare of its pensioners is failing one of its most basic responsibilities. Retirees deserve their earned benefits, not endless promises and political explanations.
