This is so true. I was at TLS VI on Wednesday and a man came with more than 800 pages of communication evidence for settlement visa. They had to scan after whyning and trying to convince the man to reduce it but he didn't bulge. They even called one white man and asked him to come convince the man, but he still didn't listen to him. stillwaiting: |
Thanks. I'm also inclined to not submit it. Foreveryours201: |

Yes. Exactly my fear. However, I think it is necessary to still provide some explanation and perhaps attach it to the p60 along with maternity SMP and other relevant documents to inform them the reason she didnt earn up to the required amount in the last tax year. I saw somewhere online how someone was refused because his/her earnings wasn't up to the require amount in the previous tax year but the sponsor claimed to have earned the required amount in that tax year. They found out this information from HMRC. Please what do you think? Uchman365: |
Thank you for your suggestion. I later found out it is not required as you have stated. Foreveryours201: |
Hello Everyone, Just a quick one. I'm now set for biometrics next week Wednesday and our supporting documents look good after months of research on this and many other forums but i have a question regarding sponsor's p60. My wife's p60 for April 2015 - April 2016 doesnt reflect she earned at least 18,600GBP. The reason for this was that she was on maternity leave for 6 good months (June - November 2015) and this ofcourse affected her gross earnings for the aforementioned tax year. She, however, returned to work in December 2015 and has been been earning atleast 1550GBP monthly gross. My question is: do we need to include this p60 as part of our supporting documents or we just drop it so as not to confuse the ECO(given that she has already earned at least 1550GBP for the past 11months)? |
Thank you. dday101: |
Hello Everyone, Please who has applied recently for settlement visa here? I came across the post below and was wondering if this is TLS' latest modus operand. I still have my IELTS Life Skills certificate, TB test result and Appendix 2 with me in Nigeria. Other supporting docs have been sent to my wife. In view of AdaNewbie1290' post, i'm wondering if i should post the remaining docs to my wife or go to TLS for my biometrics appointment with it. We are using priority service, so i dont want any delays. AdaNewbie1290: |
Hello Everyone, At last, we have finally put together all the supporting documents we need. |
OK. Thanks Lexusgs430: |
Who gets interviewed for a spouse visa? Both applicant and sponsor? Or only sponsor? |
Congrats. May God protect and watch over him. He is going to be fine. Portsmouth86: |
Thanks. Lexusgs430: |
Hi Everyone, I don come back again o. Abeg. A quick one. Is it possible to use a newly rented apartment for the accommodation requirement? No bills yet. Just the tenancy agreement and letter from landlord granting spouse permission to live in the house. The reason for this is time. We are really pressed for time and planning to even do priority. Another one. Is it necessary to have property inspection for a 2-bedroom house solely occupied by wife and daughter? |
Ok. Point taken.Thanks. Is there anything unnecessary in my list? worry359: |
Hello Justwise, Vicjustice and everyone else, I plan to apply for Family Visit Visa in September. Duration of visit is 18days. Please, is there anything possibly left out in this list of supporting documents for a Family Visit Visa: 1. Company Introduction Letter 2. Offer of employment letter 3. Promotion letter 4. Cover letter addressing refusal points for same category of visa in April Refusal reasons: 1. Lack of supporting documents to prove marriage is genuine and subsisting. I submitted a photocopy (i don't know what i was thinking) 2. Lack of supporting document to prove relationship with daughter. (I didnt submit marriage and birth certificates for wife and daughter) 3. Lack of home tie because salaries were not paid regularly at the time. (We all dey 9ja, so you should know better) 5. Marriage certificate (both religious and registry). Is it allowed to submit only religious? Just asking. 6. Daughter's birth certificate. Long and short form issued in the UK. 3. Salary account with 6 month's bank statement. Closing balance say 940k. Salaries have since been paid regularly. 7. Tenancy agreement for accommodation belonging to Father-in-law. 8. Consent/permission letter to stay in the accommodation above for the duration of my visit. 9. Passport data bio-page of Father-in-law. 10. Passport data bio-page of Wife. 11. Passport data bio-page of Daughter. 12. Wife's invitation letter. 13. Wedding pictures and some pictures we took while dating in Uni and after getting married. All were not dated though. 14. Print out of flight reservations for my wife's last two visits. 15. Skype call logs and some facebooks chats. 16. Printouts of items i bought her on amazon.co.uk I really want to inundate them with supporting documents this time around. Thank you. |
You are right. Thanks for your time. LagosismyHome: |
She is on ILR. We actually wanted to do spouse before but we have decided to put it on hold for now. I have a major project I'm currently working on and we are having a slight problem with the acoomodation requirement for spouse. So I just want to visit for now. LagosismyHome: |
You are right. I didn't submit any evidence to prove relationship. I dont know what I was thinking. I will now, however, be adding every form of evidence to prove relationship with wife and daughter. Like I said earlier, it was because I stated that salary was being paid at 50% at intervals earlier this year that ECO couldn't accept my job as home tie. But this is no longer the case. No more 50% salary for the past 4 months now. Vicjustice: |
Hi Everyone, I was refused family visit visa early May (my first ever uk visa application) because of the following reasons: 1. The ECO did not believe that my relationship with my wife is genuine and susbsiting. In addition, he said he didn't believe I'm related to my daughter as claimed. They are both in the UK. 2. Earlier this year, due to a drop in company revenue, salary was paid in half and the balance at a later date. So, the ECO captilised on this and said my job didn't qualify as home tie. Although I was the architect of my own downfall. I stated the salary thing in my cover letter! Unbelievable. I thought I was being sincere. I now want to reapply again to visit my wife and daughter. I earn 227k after tax by the way and I will be having like 900k as closing balance. I will be addressing the refusal points with: 1. I have asked my wife to send our marriage certificate and our daughters birth certificate. I will also add her flight tickets, pictures and chat messages as proof of relationship. This is visit visa o. 2. Things have since normalised at the office and salary is now paid in full. Here is my conern. My last application was refused under 4.2(a). I looked it up on the internet and what I found is lack of home ties. I don't have any landed property. I only have dependants, my parents and younger sister. The people that are supposed to be my major home ties are the ones I'm going to visit. Please, vicjustice, justwise and co, what else can I add to my application to make it more convincing? |
Lexusgs430:Lol @ "na hin oyinbo wan take dey drink tea, coffee + puffpuff, and still not issue the visa !!!!!!!" Thank you for your perspective. I agree with you. I never thought about it like that. Meanwhile, lets's put aside my father-in-law's absence. Isn't a 2 bedroom and 1 living room apartment a 3 bedroom? I remember seeing this online sometime ago; i can't remember where right now. For the sake of others in a similar situation, this site: https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/bedroomcalculator.aspx states that a 3bedroom is required for 4 people and we are 4 in this case, my father-in-law inclusive. Do you think it is a good idea to use this apartment to fulfil the accommodation requirement, given the above assertion? This is the only requirement left and I'm too scared for a refusal. |
Hello Everyone, Please i need you guys advice. A brief context: I was refused visit visa in April. My fault actually. I didn't include our marriage certificate and our daughter's birth certificate. I will be applying for spouse visa sometime next month. My wife (holds ILR) and our one year old daughter (British Nigerian) are both resident in the UK. We attended the same University here in Nigeria and got married in 2014. So, we have enough proof of relationship: pictures, chats, Skype call log, wedding certificate. She earns more than 18,600. I have the IELTS Life Skills Certificate. I will be doing the TB test soon. My headache now is the accommodation requirement. She lives in a 2 bedroom and 1 living room apartment with her dad (British Nigerian). The house is a rented apartment and it is in her dad's name. Meanwhile, i used the house as accommodation in my refused visit visa in April and no mention was made of it in the refusal letter. Green light My father-in-law landed in Nigeria a few days ago and he is not going back until the end of this year. We would like to use this apartment to fulfil the accommodation requirement for spouse visa. We plan to get a written letter from him giving his consent and permission for me to stay in the apartment for a few months after i arrive. In addition, we will attach his return ticket as proof that he wont be returning until later this year. Please is it wise to use this apartment? The cost of the spouse visa application is not a joke. |
