Your assertion is not totally correct. Obi gained widespread national recognition by being used by Obasanjo! Tinubu was used by Buhari to win Southern votes which enabled him to become President in 2015. In politics, everybody uses everybody. Obi was used but today, every Nigerian knows who Peter Obi is including those who will never vote for him in the North. Perhaps, Obi also used Obasanjo to gain the kind of clout he did. The important thing is that Obi's attempt in 2023 represents the closest an Igbo man ever got to the presidency in more than 24 years of democracy. Obi has shattered the glass ceiling and now made it clear that an Igbo man can garner votes in any and every part of the country. He even was used to defeat Tinubu in Lagos and almost collapsed Tinubu's political machinery in Lagos. It is a matter of time, if there comes a political merger or if Obi returns to the PDP, he will be coming back as a man who has the capacity to win the Presidency and not seen as only a Vice Presidential hopeful.
So, in the final analysis, according to your pattern, it may actually be Obi who used Obasanjo to gain National acclaim! Watch and see!

The Member Representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, has kicked against the inclusion of part of her constituency in the proposed new state to be created in the South-East.
Recall that the member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, had recently sponsored a bill for creation of a new State to be known as Orlu State in the South-East to bring the number of states in the Zone to six. According to the bill, the new state will be created from some parts of Anambra, Abia, and Imo states.
The bill also seeks to amend the 1999 Constitution by inserting a new paragraph, which will include 28 local government areas, namely: Orlu, Orsu, Oru West, Oru East, Ideato North, Ideato South, Njaba, Nkwerre, Nwangele, Isu, Oguta, Ohaji Egbema, Onuimo, Ihiala, Uga, Uli, Ozubulu, Akokwa, Arondizuogu, Umuchu, Umunze, Umuaku, New Ideato North, Nwabosi West, Nwabosi East, Owerre Nkworji, Alaoma, Amaifeke, and Owerrebiri Umuowa.
However, reacting in a statement made available to this reporter, Izunna Okafor, on the bill which is already gaining weight and height in the Green Chamber; Hon. Nnabuife, who represents the people of Umunze (one of the Anambra communities that were included in the proposed new state), said she and her constituents were not consulted before making the move.
Hon. Nnabuife, who also hails from the community, said they were not privy to the bill before it was brought to the floor of the House of Representatives, and therefore, vowed never to support the bill. She also maintained that Umunze, which is the capital of Orumba South Local Government Area remains and will always remain an integral part of Anambra State.
Her words: “In the light of recent developments regarding the proposed creation of Orlu State, I, Honourable Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, wish to clarify my stance and correct any misconceptions surrounding this bill.
“It has come to my attention that a bill for the creation of Orlu State, sponsored by Hon. Ugochinyere Michael Ikeagwuonu, has scaled its first reading in the House of Representatives. This bill, identified as HB1430, purportedly includes Umunze Community in the proposed new state. I must emphasize that I and the good people of Umunze who I represent in the National Assembly are not privy to this bill, as I was never consulted on this matter and therefore do not support this bill.
“It is imperative to set the record straight: I have nothing against the creation of state, but this said bill was neither discussed nor deliberated upon with me or my constituents before being brought to the floor of the House of Representatives. The people of Orumba North and South have unequivocally rejected the idea of being included in the proposed Orlu State. Umunze, the heart and Capital of Orumba South has always been and will always remain an integral part of Anambra State.
“As the duly elected representative of Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, it is my duty to protect the interests and the wishes of my Constituents. Any attempt to alter the status of our constituency without proper consultation and agreement is unacceptable. The historical, cultural, and administrative ties of Umunze to Anambra State are deeply rooted and cannot be overlooked or undermined by this proposed bill.
“I hope this statement clears the air and sets the record straight. Umunze in Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency remains steadfastly a part of Anambra State.”

Gjrich: Nigerians on social media have descended heavily on former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, after he linked the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, with the nationwide strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
In a post on his Facebook page on Monday night, Omokri had lambasted the president of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, saying the strike was uncalled for and would lead to the death of many premature babies following the shutting down of the national grid.
He however, shot himself in the foot as he went on to say Ajaero was working in ‘cahoots ‘ with Obi to frustrate and sabotage the government of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“Do you know how many premature babies will die today because Joe Ajaero and his NLC shut down the National Grid? How many hospital emergency patients will perish? This is not a National Strike. This is a National Attack by the most politically exposed and partisan NLC President ever,” Omokri wrote.
“Ajaero is in cahoots with Peter Obi. And this is about 2027. Which country have you heard of where they shut down the National Grid as part of a strike? If there is a fire or emergency somewhere, what do we do? Nigerians ought to stand up against Joe Ajaero. He is taking the country down with him!
“How does shutting down the National Grid and putting Nigerians in darkness help the economy or workers? Aso Rock has generators. So does the National Assembly. Even Joe Ajaero has generators and is enjoying air conditioning.
“It is you that heat is finishing in your house. Meanwhile, factories cannot produce, and the economy is contracting.
“What you may not understand is that Federal civil servants are less than 0.3% of the population. If the NLC insists on an unreasonable ₦494,000 a month minimum wage, all that the FG will do is go on a massive sacking spree.
“The people who will suffer are the private sector, who employ more than 65% of Nigeria’s workers. Obviously, they will not be able to pay ₦494,000 a month and run their businesses profitably. So, they will increase prices for those not working and sack their workers, increasing unemployment.
“The NLC under Joe Ajaero knows that. They do not care. As long as they can sabotage the government and our economy to make Peter Obi look good, they will do it. It is all about 2027. It is not about you!”
But his post did not go down well with a lot of Nigerians who flooded his page to disagree with him.

His Excellency Peter Odili is supporting His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara openly and this is affecting the PDP saboteur Nyesom Wike Minister of the FCT. Wike is not winning the political tussle right now in Rivers State. His misguided advice to his supporters members of State House of Assembly to decamp has come back to haunt him and them. Now it's clear they have lost their sits and since Odili's wife is acting as legal consultant to Fubara, they now decide to touch her husband. They know she doesn't play with her husband.
Today, suddenly EFCC have remembered his case file. The coming days will be interesting indeed.
Kwankwaso's problem is connected to his support for the Governor of Kano State who is Kwankwaso's inlaw. A few days ago, the former Emir of Kano was reinstated. Suddenly today, the EFCC have remembered his case files!
Tinubu may end up being the worst President ever. Buhari was never this petty.
But it remains to be seen. Kano is an opposition state and Rivers is also an opposition State.

A primary school teacher buried her murdered boyfriend as if he was “building waste”, a court has been told.
Fiona Beal had planned the killing of Nick Billingham in meticulous detail, including buying a utility knife in advance and then purchasing a spade and other burial equipment, prosecutors told an Old Bailey sentencing hearing.
Beal pleaded guilty mid-trial last month to the murder of Mr Billingham, whose partly mummified remains were discovered in their Northamptonshire garden, four and a half months after he was last seen.
She had earlier admitted manslaughter, claiming that she had experienced a “loss of control” when she killed the 42-year-old builder, adding that they had a “coercive” relationship.
On Wednesday, the Old Bailey heard that the 50-year-old had lured Mr Billingham into the bedroom with the promise of sex, tied him to the bed with cable ties and stabbed him in the neck. She then hid his body and told friends and family that he had left her for another woman.
Hugh Davies KC, for the prosecution, told the court: “This was murder and no less than murder. Whatever was or was not happening in the defendant’s relationship with Nick Billingham … nothing is now contended to justify in fact or law the defendant’s actions in killing him.
“Even if the defendant was as unhappy in the relationship as she has claimed, she had multiple options to end it without violence. She could have simply asked him to leave.”
But instead of relying on the support of her family and friends to find a way forward without her boyfriend, Beal “wanted the simplicity of a new life without him, the status of a victim of his supposedly running off and the house to herself”, said Mr Davies.
He told His Honour Judge Mark Lucraft KC, the Recorder of London, Beal had “planned to execute [Billingham] and did, planned and delivered a false narrative as to his having had another affair, run off and ceasing to communicate”.
Mr Davies said Beal had “planned for and took elaborate and sustained steps over a period of weeks to conceal her crime, including disposing of his body as if it was building waste in her garden, posed as him in communications with his friends, colleagues and family”.
He added: “This was a murder with multiple aggravating features.”
In a diary confession later found by police Beal, using the alter-ego Tulip 22, wrote that she had lured her partner of 17 years to his death with the promise of sex, stabbing him in the neck while they were in bed together on Nov 1, 2022.
He was wearing an eye mask and his hands were tied with cables as part of a sex game when she stabbed him to the right side of his neck, cutting the right jugular vein. He was still masked and tied when his partially decomposed body was discovered months later.
The killer’s journal revealed that Billingham’s last word to her as he lay dying was, “why?”.
Beal’s journals recounted the murder in grim detail. She wrote: “I had smoked all day. I had a bath, I left the water in. He had been pushing for sex. I encouraged the bath with the incentive of sex afterwards.
“While he was in the bath I kept the knife in my dressing gown pocket and then I had it in the drawer next to the bed.
Billingham's 'partially wrapped and partially clothed' remains were found buried in a makeshift grave. “I brought a chisel, bin bag and cable ties too. I got him to wear an eye mask.”
She went on: “My last words to him when he asked why was that he was not going to do to [another female] what he had done to me.”
In cryptic notes later discovered by police, Beal wrote: “confession . . final farewell . . I’m not a total monster. I know what I did.”
Beal was arrested in March 2022 after being discovered at a holiday property near Kendal, in Cumbria, where she had tried to take her own life.
After police recovered her ‘Tulip 22’ journals giving a chilling account of how she had planned and then carried out a killing, they excavated the garden.
After four days of digging, officers found Billingham’s “partially wrapped and partially clothed” remains, buried in a makeshift grave of breeze blocks, old blankets and timber filled with compost and ten 22.5kg bags of Cotswold stone that Beal had bought from B&Q using Mr BIllingham’s card, and topped off with a plant pot for decorative effect.
“It demonstrated nothing but complete contempt,” said Mr Davies.
During the hearing, Mr Davies read out a heartfelt letter Mr Billingham had written to Beal after he had an affair during their 17-year relationship.
In the letter, Mr Billingham accepted his faults and described Beal as “kind-hearted”, “generous” and “the most beautiful woman in the world”.
He wrote: “I promise to never again belittle you or make you feel rubbish again.
“My body, my heart, my love has been yours since the day I met you and will be until the day I die. I love you with all my heart.”
Beal, dressed in a black cardigan and pink floral dress, listened in the dock – occasionally taking notes – as the prosecution outlined the case against her. Mr Billingham’s mother, Yvonne Valentine, sat just a few feet away, in the now empty jury box, accompanied by her husband, Russell.
In a victim witness statement read to the court Mrs Valentine told of the moment, shortly after the murder, when Beal had invited her to the house to wrap Christmas presents and have a drink, while her son’s body lay just a few feet from where she was sitting.
Mrs Valentine said: “You sat in your front room with me, having a casual chat with me, having a Christmas drink with me and the whole time, you knew that you had killed my son and buried him only feet from where I was sat.
“I felt sad and embarrassed that my son had left you, but I shouldn’t have wasted my energy and concern on you, you had planned it all and at no point have you ever given me the same consideration or thought about the devastation you caused by killing my son.”
Addressing Beale, Mrs Valentine went on to say in her victim impact statement: “Nick was my first born, my beautiful little boy with a cheeky smile! Nick was so loved by his family, his friends and work colleagues.
“My mother, Nick’s grandmother had to endure the news that you had killed her first born grandchild, just weeks before her own death and I witnessed the impact of this news on her, as I watched my mother’s health decline and die with a broken heart, all caused by you.
“You’re a coward. You’re evil. You killed him and then spun a cruel web of lies. You showed no regrets. You wrote ‘I’m not a total monster. I know what I did’. Now everyone knows exactly what you did and they will see you for the evil, total monster you are.
“You killed my son in the most heinous way. You made sure he was defenceless and executed him and watched him bleed to death.”
Mrs Valentine added: “I want you to spend the rest of your life going over what you did to Nick, the pain and suffering that you put him through when you killed him and the total disregarding for him as a human being when you buried him like he was a piece of rubbish in his own back garden.
“I want you to remember that he will always be loved and that he will always be missed. You have faced judgement in court and will now have to face gods’ judgement for eternity.”
The court was told that expert witnesses at Beal’s trial had testified that her mental condition at the time of the murder “did not justify a finding of diminished responsibility” and that her substance abuse “may have played a greater than previously thought role in the killing”.
Beal will be sentenced when the hearing concludes after hearing mitigation on Thursday.
She will be given 5 years at most, she will come out in two!
